Health Fair, Readers Theatre, Playground Exploration & More!

Wow we had a busy week this week! The Kettering Medical College nursing students put together a health & safety fair for our students. They really enjoyed exploring the various stations set up for them about hand washing, exercising, sun safety, healthy food, stranger danger, first aid, hand washing, dental hygiene, etc. Take a look below.
Exercising like the animals.
Learning about germs by touching a balloon and seeing the germs on our hands and on the balloon.
Learning about dental health by using floss to get the plaque (play dough) out from between the teeth (legos). We also learned how to correctly brush our teeth and gums!
Some of the other stations were hand washing, home safety/pretty poisons, sun safety, healthy foods, first aid, stranger danger & seeing a therapy dog.
During literacy lab this week we participated in a few readers theatre plays. Here are pictures of some of the students acting out 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' in front of the class.
After rubber banding our field day shirts, we tie-dyed them and put them in bags. Later we laid them out to dry and then took the rubber bands off. They turned out really great and we can't wait to wear them for Field day this Friday!
In order to help us practice our sight words we played a game called, "I have who has". I started by reading the card that said, "I have the first word. Who has the?" Kuryn had the next card so she read hers and we continued until everyone got a turn to read their cards. They really enjoyed this game!
Mrs. Gore's class had been working on learning plays for their reader's theatre study. They performed Goldilocks and the Three Bears, The Three Little Pigs, The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, Little Red Riding Hood, and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Our class really enjoyed watching them perform their plays for us and we were very impressed that they memorized it all!

Tristan checking out our garden and feeling our spinach plants.
Ms. Kramer's class made some new playground toys for everyone to play with and they wanted to teach us how to use them. They made stilts, PVC pipe bowling set & water bottle bowling set.

We enjoyed playing with the new playground toys!
Mrs. Myers' class made a music wall for our playground also. It includes pots to bang, pipes, drying rack, rain sticks, a rubbing tube and sticks. All of these different objects allow the children to make sounds in various ways. After we learned how to properly use the music wall they were able to explore. There was a long line and they all couldn't wait to get their turn to explore!
Thanks for stopping by! We are looking forward to field day this coming Friday!
Have a great week!
