This week we had a very busy week getting ready for our Friendship Feast, even with our snow day! We started by writing Friendship Feast on our banner and including every student's handprint from all three classes.
You can see the finished product in the next post, "Friendship Feast"!
Our class was in charge of creating 4 table runners for decoration. The students split into 4 groups and got together to create a plan. They discussed and voted on what they wanted to include on their table runners.
Once they figured out a plan, they drew it on a piece of paper in order to show their vision.
For some reason I didn't get a picture of group 3's plan but here are group 1(a heart with their names in it and a friendship tree), group 2 (hearts with what they are thankful for in them and a friendship tree) and group 4's (heart with names in them and a bucket full of kind things) plans.
We began our work on our table runners by outlining with Sharpie and using paint to fill in the lines.
Each student in each group had a job to do and worked on multiple parts to each table runner.
We worked so hard and they all turned out great! Check out our final products in the next post, "Friendship Feast".
Dr. Clifford was unable to attend our Friendship Feast and was very disappointed so he stopped by to tell the classes he was sorry to miss it. They enjoyed hearing from him!
On Thursday morning, all 3 classes went down to the gym on the stairs to practice our song that we sang for our feast. In case your child didn't already tell you, the words are: "Thank you for the friends we meet, thank you for the food we eat, thank you for our work and play, thank you for this happy day." Make sure they show you the sign language that goes along with the song as well!
We also created thank you cards for Ms. Pett, Ms. Juda and Mr. Dwayne who all worked so hard to help us put our feast together by helping set up, clean up, and cook the turkey! We all signed our names and we will present the cards to them after break.
These are a few pictures the students wanted me to share on the blog because they were proud of their work. Alyssa used lots of triangles to create a big hexagon. Jaden, Madison, and Jay'Veon worked in our engineering area to create a structure as tall as they are!
We finished our green color mosaic and have now begun working on our orange one.
We finished our letter G & N cards for our word wall.
The students worked so hard on our feast that we used Friday to relax and take it easy. We know how much they love the movie Frozen, so we watched it. It was funny because they were all singing along to every word of the movie!
We enjoyed some leftovers from our feast. It was nice for those students who weren't able to make it to our feast, they were still able to participate in our own class feast. Thank you to everyone who was willing to share your leftovers with us, we all enjoyed them very much!
The students earned a class reward and chose to have an ice cream party. I brought in individual vanilla ice cream cups and toppings. The students got to choose 2 toppings from the following choices: mini M&M's, sprinkles, Oreo pieces, Reese's pieces, and nuts. They also got whipped cream on top if they chose to have it!
They all enjoyed our ice cream party and I knew they would! Thanks for checking in. I hope you all have a great week of break enjoying family, food, and fun!
