Welcome back everyone! I hope you all had a great spring break! We had another busy week in room 205! We have begun getting ready for our open house next week! In art this week we built our clay animals. Our friends did a great job using their non fiction pictures of their animal in order to make it as accurate as they could. They started with the body shape and then added the details. Next week we will be painting our animals in art class. Take a look at some of the animals below!
Alivia made a gold dust day gecko
Leeland made a green iguana & Chaceten made a frilled lizard
Sebastian made an alligator snapping turtle & Shelby made a yellow bellied slider turtle
We also finished decorating our paper bags for earth day. I dropped them off at Kroger this weekend and they will use them on Earth Day to bag groceries with!
We spent a lot of our time this week working on our animal habitats! We got everything painted we just have to add details this week! Here are some pictures of the crocodilian group making their swamp. We used a roller and a loofah to get a really cool swamp like look!
Here are some pictures of the turtle group making their habitat. Some of our turtles live in swamp areas and some live on land so we made out habitat have both of those.
The lizard group made two different habitats. We have a lot of friends in this group and the two habitats they live in most are very different. One of the habitats (above) is a rainforest habitat and the other (below) is a desert habitat.
We added the students camouflage & water color art activity pictures to the bulletin board as well as a title and documentation papers. We still have a couple things to add before the open house as well!
We created our open house invitations to send home as well. We hope this will encourage the children to talk about the open house to their families at home as well.
We began focusing on poetry this week and we will continue to work on it all throughout the month of April. we created our covers for our poetry journals. Here are some pictures of the kids working hard on their covers!
These are just a few of the books we read poems from this week! The children have really enjoyed listening to poems. It has seemed to inspire and motivate them to want to create wonderful poems as well! They were excited to read more this month!
