Even though it was a shorter week for the students (because of QPT day), it was a very busy one! We celebrated letters J-M in our end of the year alphabet countdown, had a visit from the High Schoolers for their Book Drive, prepared and took part in our Kindergarten Spring Sing, had our 4th Quarter Caring Rally about caring for our community, got our gifts ready for Mother's Day & more!
Take a look below to see more details about what we have been up to.
On the letter K day, the students sang Karaoke to various Kidz Pop songs. They enjoyed singing and dancing and were cracking me up!
For letter L day, the students wrote letters to their first grade teachers. These letters will be going into their portfolios so you can deliver them to their first grade teachers!
For letter M day, the students voted on which movie they would like to watch and trolls won. The students enjoyed watching it. Thank you to everyone who brought in a movie to vote on!
On Tuesday, the High Schoolers came to visit for the annual Book Drive. They read the story, "If You Take a Mouse to School" to the class, they colored a picture of the mouse, enjoyed a cookie and got to pick out a book to take home. The students were very thankful for the High Schooler's kindness!
In order to prepare for our Kindergarten Spring Sing, all of the Kindergarten classes gathered on Tuesday in the ECC gym to practice the program all together.
Thursday morning, we went over to the High School to practice all together up on the stage!
At our rehearsal Thursday morning, I got a video of our 5 speakers saying their lines. They did awesome!
Thursday evening, we had a great turnout for our Kindergarten Spring Sing program! The students did a great job singing loudly up on stage. They were so proud of themselves and so was I!
"Adios Mi Amigo"
On Friday we had our 4th Quarter Caring Rally where we focused on caring for our community. In the morning session, SISCA visited the school with puppies that were up for adoption and in the afternoon session (which we attended) Wagmor Service Dogs brought 2 service dogs to share with the students. Our school presented donations to both SISCA & Wagmor including money that the school raised (over $200 to each company), thank you cards to volunteers and workers, and supplies such as leashes, collars, treats, blankets, etc. Below are some pictures of the Wagmor Service Dogs visit. Each class had a student go up to tell the workers what we had to give to them. Robert went up to present the cards that our class made to say thank you for taking such great care of the dogs!
At the end, the students got to pet the dogs!
We learned about all the amazing things that service dogs do to help people. Devon got called up to demonstrate asking to pet someone's dog before doing so to make sure the dog isn't working.
Friday, the students took home their Mother's Day presents. I hope you all enjoyed them! They decorated the bags that held all of their goodies. They included their flowers that we have been growing, a bag of M&M's with a special label with a page to go along with it, a poem, a card your child made for you, and an All About Me page that they dictated to me about their Mother as I wrote for them. I hope you all had a beautiful Mother's Day!
My mom, Mrs. Boxley and grandma, Mrs. Solich came to school to help the students put their hand prints on an end of the year poem for their portfolios. The students enjoyed working with them!
We continued to read Dinosaur books as well as our 101 Dalmations book (we only have 2 chapters left)!
Please return the RSVP for the Poetry Cafe as soon as you can so I can know how many people to expect. If you are bringing a sibling, they will have to sit on your lap because it looks like it's going to be full! Also, please know that it will last over an hour. Hope to see you all there!
Thanks for checking in. Stop back again next week to see what we are up to next! The students earned their class reward (they chose slushies) so we will be enjoying those this week!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
