We had another fun and busy week here in Kindergarten! The students worked on their portfolio covers, finished our Dot Day activities, learned about 5 more friends who shared their treasure blocks, enjoyed wacky spirit week for attendance awareness, created color mosaics, made 3 more alphabet cards, shared our hard work with our preschool reading buddies, worked on our Teach Town lessons, etc. Take a look below to see more!
Here are the students creating their portfolio covers using shading!
Mrs. Boxley helped us finish our Dot Day activities. The students got to pick which colors they wanted to use and then mixed it on the paper using a plate. They turned out awesome!
Here are the friends that we learned about this week!
We have begun labeling the beginning sound in our pictures. As you can see this friend labeled "S" for sun, "W" for watermelon & "G" for ground.
Here are pictures from our wacky spirit week for attendance awareness month.
Monday- Wacky Day
Tuesday- Mustache Day
Wednesday- Hat Day
Thursday- Cowboy Day
Friday- Animal Print Day
Below you can see the students working very hard this week to make our red & blue mosaics.
They turned out great!
When the students earned their yellow books & letter books, they enjoy practicing reading them to themselves and to their friends as well.
Here are the lists of words we made for each of the 3 letters we worked on this week along with the completed letter cards. They turned out beautiful!
On Friday Mrs. Vogt's preschool class came for our Preschool Reading Buddies visit. The kindergarteners shared what we have been working on and gave their buddy a picture they drew for them. They enjoyed getting to visit with the preschoolers and we will do it again next Friday!
Friday afternoon we played a game called "I Have, Who Has" with environmental print. I had the first card that you can see below and we went through all of the cards as each student shared what their card said. They were so excited that they were able to "read" these words on their cards! They enjoyed the game and want to play it again another time!
We continued to work on our Teach Town lessons and students acted out each lesson using the puppets for the class.
We also read the books together as a group and they got to take them home to practice as well.
I sent home the homework and worksheet for you to work on with your child at home and reinforce the lesson.
Important papers sent home this week:
