We had so much fun learning here in Kindergarten this week! We did a color mixing experiment to make purple and learned how to spell the color word, learned 2 new letters, had a PJ day, enjoyed pumpkin seeds from our pumpkin, finished our school rules book, worked on literacy skills in Literacy Lab, shared with our reading buddies and continued to read more Mo Willems books.
Take a look below to find out more details about our week!
On Monday, we did a color mixing experiment with the colors blue & red.
The students enjoyed seeing how everyone had different shades of purple!
Before we did the experiment, the students documented what we were going to do and made a prediction about what they thought was going to happen. After we were finished, we documented the rest of the experiment.
We also did a Counting Pumpkins book which helped us work on counting and making numbers.
Our school pictures came in and I sent them home with the students on Tuesday!
Our class earned a PJ day and we had a fun time on Tuesday!
I cooked the pumpkins from our pumpkin and brought them in for the students to try.
Some of them liked them and some of them did not!
Here are a couple of the pages we finished in our school rules book this week. Our book is now finished and will be added to their portfolios.
In Literacy Lab, we continued to work on various literacy skills. Below, the students are listening to the story "There was an old lady who swallowed a bat" and coloring a page from the story.
Students also worked on iReady.
Mrs. Arnold worked with students to practice recognizing letters, tracing them, and saying their sounds.
Mrs. Roland worked with students on rhyming words.
I worked with groups on practicing reading letter T & S books, sorting pictures by beginning sounds, and writing words that begin with those letters.
The students shared our school rules books & our color purple books with their Preschool Reading Buddies on Friday.
They earned their purple books to take home and practice spelling the word!
We worked on our purple mosaic as well. We will finish it this week!
We learned about the letters B & I, made a list of things that begin with those letters, the students drew pictures and I made them into our letter cards & the students earned their letter books to also practice reading at home.
Here are the completed letter cards. They turned out great!
We have continued to read more Mo Willems books and the students love them all!!
Believe it or not, there are still more books that we can continue to read.
Thanks for stopping by. Check back next week to see what we are up to next!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
