We had a busy last week before break! Take a look below to find out more about our week!
Our Focus Wall for the week.
We practiced the letter Nn and it's sound this week.
We practiced syllables and worked on figuring out how many syllables different Christmas related words have.
We practiced the sight words 'my' & 'with' this week.
We also did color by sight word pictures to make a sleigh and presents!
We worked hard this week in our math workbook on 2-D shapes.
We made lots of fun Christmas crafts this week too!
In Literacy Lab, students made a reindeer puppet.
They also made a Santa puppet!
We read and colored a festive Christmas book.
Ms. Shari helped the students make fun Santa faces in Library/Computer Lab.
We had a Holiday Spirit Week to help us celebrate!
Monday: Ugly Christmas Sweater or Flannel Day
Tuesday: Grinch Day, wear green!
We made a Grinch craft and watched the Grinch movie to celebrate our day!
Inside the Grinch's mouth students drew and wrote about how they would make the Grinch grin.
Wednesday: Christmas Sock Day
On Wednesday we also did some fun Gingerbread activities as well! Students got to taste Gingerbread cookies and then we graphed where they took their first bite (head, arm, or leg).
Most people bit the head first!
We read The gingerbread Man story and then glued the pictures in order to retell the story.
Then the students followed directions to make their Gingerbread Glyph.
They turned out so good!
Thursday: Pajama Day!
We watched The Polar Express and then put the pictures back in order to retell the events from the movie.
We enjoyed some hot chocolate too (along with marshmallows, whipped cream, and candy canes too)!
Then we put the pictures in order on how to make hot chocolate.
This week we discussed wants and needs.
For writing, students wrote about things that they want as well as things they need for Christmas.
Students can complete the Winter Break Challenge to choose a prize from the treasure box when we return from Winter Break!
If students complete a Bingo on our Sight Word Choice Bingo board, they will get to choose a prize from the treasure box. If they complete the whole board, they will get to choose 2 prizes from the treasure box!
