We had a very busy but fun week before winter break! Take a look below to find out more!
Here are a few pictures from our winter spirit week. I forgot to get a picture of our flannel/ugly sweater day & our candy cane day. Below is our grinch day, Santa's workshop & Pajama day.
We finished our Mr. Popper's penguins movie.
It was very different from the book so we enjoyed talking about what was different!
In Literacy Lab, we made Santa puppets and did a Santa directed drawing.
We also did a grinch color by sight word paper.
We read some gingerbread stories!
I gave the students gingerbread cookies and we graphed where they took their first bite at.
Most people took their first bite off the head!
Mrs. Phillip came and did a lesson with the class on stoping and thinking before you do something.
Then students worked in their workbooks.
This week we learned the sight words: is, it, and, on.
For our math lessons, we worked on teen numbers and counting by 10's.
Our scholastic book order finally arrived. All of the students got to take home 3 books this time; one for November, one for December, and one as a Christmas present from me. Every student got an "There was an old lady who swallowed a turkey" book for November. Then they got to choose a book for December and a Christmas book from me. These books are for the students to keep at home and practice reading.
They loved their new books!
Ms. Stewart came to visit us on Friday and the students were so excited!
We watched the Polar Express. Ms. Stewart helped pass out "tickets" to the students as them came into the classroom so they could "board" the Polar Express. After the movie was over, I gave them a bell so they can ring it and remember the movie.
Also after the movie was over, we put sequenced the events from the story.
We also enjoyed hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies. Perfect for pajama day!
The students decorated bags for them to take their ornaments home in.
They also signed their names.
They turned out so cute, I hope you love them!
We also reviewed some sight words with a sight word spinner game which they enjoyed!
My former student, Killion, came back to read to the class again.
We made gingerbread by following directions on how to decorate it.
They turned out great!
Here are their finished reindeer directed drawings from last week as well.
Our bulletin board looks so festive now!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you all have a wonderful break and holiday season!
I can't wait to hear all about it!
