We had another busy week in Kindergarten this week! We added colored water and some leaves that I laminated to our Look Closer area. The students explored with creating the color of the leaves by mixing different colors together.
We had more friends share their treasure blocks this week. We learned how to spell their names as well as how many syllables are in each child's name. They shared their interests and likes and we created our web for each student. Their peers drew illustrations of them and they got to take them home in their All About Me book.
We worked on painting our water color leaf paintings. We learned how to use the right amount of water so it doesn't smear and using appropriate colors to match their leaf.
We also added laminated leaves to the measuring workstation and the students used standard (rulers, tape measures) and non-standard (paper clips, unifex cubes) measurement to see how tall and wide they are.
These friends sorted our plastic frogs by color.
Brady was putting our letter tiles into alphabetical order. We also learned the letter C and what sound it made. We made a list of words that began with the letter C and made our C card.
We used yogurt to experiment with making the color purple. We had a tub of yogurt that we added blue to and a tub of yogurt that we added red to. Each student got a little bit of each color and mixed them together to see what color we would make. They were so surprised to make purple!
Jaden & Braydon saying "Purple"
They all enjoyed their purple yogurt so much they were scraping their plates clean!
We learned how to spell Purple with our song. We still need to practice on this one!
We also learned how to make orange this week! We used yellow and red cream cheese and mixed it together using pretzels.
We learned how to spell Orange with our color song. We are still practicing!
