On Monday in Art class, we painted wooden blocks black in order to help our wire people stand out more. Once we were finished, Mrs. Pinto used a staple gun to staple our people to our block. We worked really hard to cover every space on the block with black paint and do quality work!
Take a sneak peek at some of their finished pieces. They turned out great!
In the picture on the left below from left to right we have: archery, karate & figure skating.
In the picture on the right below from left to right we have: basketball, rock climbing, shot put & gymnastics.
Now that all of our clay equipment pieces were finished, we worked really hard on painting them this week! Take a look at a few below. Nadia made a gold medal.
Amir & Jayden W. made ice skates.
Braydon made nunchucks.
Lily made a rhythmic gymnastics ribbon wand & Braylon made an archery target.
Leeland made a basketball & Jaden S. made a football goal post.
Alyssa made a football. Here is a sneak peek of the rock climbing wall. The group worked together to make handles on the wall, carabiners, a rope and a harness for a person climbing the wall.
My best friend, Mrs. Powers, and her husband are really into rock climbing so she came to talk to the class to tell us more about it. We made a list of questions for Mrs. Powers about rock climbing of things we wanted to know more about.
I shared these questions with her ahead of time so she knew what to bring and talk about. She put together a powerpoint including pictures of them rock climbing and some of the equipment they use. Here are a few of the pictures from the powerpoint. You can really see how far up they are in some of the pictures!
Here is all of the equipment Mrs. Powers brought to show us including a helmet, rope, harness, carabiners, climbing shoes, chalk bag, and holds/handles from their rock climbing wall they built in their garage.
We talked about the importance of wearing a helmet as well as how the harness keeps you safe.
The students got to touch the rope as well as the holds/handles to see how they felt.
Thank you again to Mrs. Powers for coming to visit, the students learned so much from you!
The students were very inspired by Mrs. Powers visit and instantly started creating rock climbing walls, drawing pictures, making up stories about rock climbing, etc. Here is something Nadia created in the art area of the pigeon rock climbing!
We also had 6 West Carrollton High School student athletes come to visit us this week to tell us about the sports that they play. They talked about rules, training, special skills, and how important school is.
Thank you again to the high school students for coming to visit, the students really enjoyed it!
Alyssa was inspired in our engineering area to make a goal post using our building sticks. We also added a mini golf putt-putt course to our look closer area.
We finished the 6th book in our sports fairies series, "Alice the tennis fairy" and we began reading the 7th and final book in the series, "Gemma the gymnastics fairy". Ask your child to tell you about the story and what is happening in it!
This week was St. Patrick's day and our friends got in the spirit with a green mustache and green hair!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
