We had another busy week this week in Kindergarten! Take a look below at what we have been working on.
Monday we learned more about our friend Skyler & Tuesday we learned more about our friend Lauranna.
Wednesday we learned more about our friend Kurron & Thursday we learned more about our friend Brooklyn.
We did some fun name recognition and making in literacy lab this week. The students glued fruit loops on paper to make their names.
They made their names by finding the correct letter beads and stringing them onto a pipe cleaner. They also practiced writing their names with dry erase markers.
We continued to work in our "I Wonder" stations. Here are some friends working in the Home Living area.
We also began working on some learning app on ipads.

On Thursday we had our Homecoming Parade. Thank you to everyone who was able to come, we had a great turnout!
We worked on recognizing the letter T and its sound. We made a list of things that began with that letter, drew pictures and made our letter card for our word wall.

We do lots of songs and dances to practice recognizing the letter, making the sound, tracing it in the air, and practicing writing it.
On Tuesday my mom, Mrs. Boxley came to visit the students for the first time. I forgot to get a picture of her working with the students! She brought ice cream for the students to help them cool down since it was so hot!
Mrs. Boxley also helped us celebrate national Dot Day. It was last Thursday but since I was out of town, we celebrated on Tuesday! The students created lots of different dot projects and they all turned out great! First we read the story "The Dot" which is about having self-confidence and trying your best. Then the students participated in 4 different rotations and used different mediums to create dots. Below you can see the students using watercolors to create dots.
Next, the students used markers on coffee filters then we sprayed them to make cool pieces of art.
The students also used different objects such as toilet paper rolls, corks, Q-tips, etc. and paint to stamp dots on paper.

One of my friends from last year goes to our year round school, Schnell, and asked if he could come read to my class this year while they were on fall break. He came on Wednesday and read The Grandma Book to the class. The students really enjoyed hearing him read and couldn't wait until they could read like that.
The students have showed me that they now know how to spell the color word Red and earned their red color book. We have now been working on the color word Blue.
Each student also signed our class promise and we hung it up in our classroom.
They also made their covers for their portfolios. We worked on shading and doing our best work.
As a class, we began reading the story Charlotte's Web. Ask your child to tell you what has been happening in the story to help build reading comprehension. We discuss it as we read as well.
I loved this picture from our recess time and thought I would share it. The students were working together in order to move a large log across the playground!
