Even though we had a short week with conferences & QPT Day, it was full of fun and learning! We completed a counting leaves book, had a visit from Mr. Garrabrant to talk about being an engineer, started working on opinion writing, shared our work with our Preschool Reading Buddies, made pine cone turkeys and place mats to use as decorations for our Friendship Feast, started reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, learned 3 new letters & a new color word & more.
Take a look below for more details!
For our Falling Leaves book, we practiced recognizing and writing numbers, counting the matching number of leaves and gluing them in the boxes on each page.
My husband, Mr. Garrabrant, is an engineer at A.K. Steel and came this week to talk to the students about being an engineer. He explained what he does, what they make, and the engineering process. Then the students got to ask questions. They enjoyed learning about being an engineer and many of the students said they wanted to be an engineer when they grow up!!
We began working on opinion writing this week as well. We talked about what an opinion is and our first one was writing about our favorite food.
On Friday, the students shared their opinion writing & our black color book with our Preschool Reading Buddies.
Mrs. Boxley helped the students work on making pine cone turkeys for decorations at our Friendship Feast. They turned out very cute! I will share a picture in next week's blog so you can see them first at the feast!
They also worked on making their place mats for the feast as well. We talked about what we were thankful for, the students tried to sound it out and drew a picture.
This week we also began reading Charlie & the Chocolate Factory as a class. Ask your child to tell you about the story and what is happening!
We learned about 3 new letters this week. I forgot to get a picture of the alphabet cards.
I will add them to the post next week!
Our Teach Town lesson this week was "It's More Fun to Share".
We finished our black mosaic and I hung it up on the wall.
The students enjoyed playing outside in the nice weather this week. We will be going outside as long as the temperature feels like 32 or above so please make sure your child brings appropriate clothing (winter coat, gloves, hat, etc.) to school.
Thanks for stopping by. Check back again next week to see what fun things we are up to next!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
