We had another busy and fun week! Take a look below to see more about our exciting week!
Our focus wall for the week:
We worked hard in our Reader's Notebooks to practice our sight words as well as the letter & letter sound for Oo.
We worked whole group to practice the letter Oo & it's sounds as well.
We practiced counting syllables in various words as well!
In math, we worked on different ways to make 10. We matched the 10's frame to the number sentence.
We also practiced breaking apart and making teen numbers.
We practiced our sight words by reading books and finding our words in them.
We also completed some sight word papers together to practice as well.
Of course we played our sight word spinner game to practice our sight words too!
Our sight word 'give' won!
The kids have been loving learning and writing about animals! We continued to learn about lizards, monkeys, bats and dinosaurs this week. Their writing has been so great! Here are a few examples below.
"Lizards eat many bugs."
"Bats live in caves."
"Bats are busy at night."
"Bats can fly."
"They like to eat plants!"
"The velociraptor is a very fast dinosaur."
"They have babies."
"Monkeys eat bananas."
Mrs. Phillip came and did a lesson with us this week about being a good friend.
Students worked in their workbooks to document how they would feel in certain situations with friends and recognizing good friends.
We also did a directed drawing of a leprechaun. They turned out so great, here are a few examples!
This will be hung up on our bulletin board in the hallway for everyone to see!
I gave the class a goal this week to pass 30 iReady lessons. They chose a treasure box prize as their reward if they could meet their goal. They passed 31 lessons, so they got to choose a prize!
We also started reading Mr. Popper's Penguins together as a class. The students are really enjoying it!
This week, you should've received a yearbook order form. Orders are due 4/23.
Thanks for checking to see what fun things we have been up to!
Stop back again next week!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
