Welcome to Kindergarten to all of our friends!
The phase in days were so much fun getting to know the students. Half the class came on Friday & the other half came on Monday. We read lots of back to school books and listened to fun learning songs. We also took a tour of our school to learn where all of the important places were. Students learned how to be "PAX Leaders" (people who make good choices because it's the right thing to do) in every area of our school.
Mr. Doyle, our P.E. teacher, and Mrs. Schieman, our principal taught us the procedures in the "ECC Cafe" and how lunch would work. They were definitely excited for lunch time!
We worked hard in our classroom to learn how to use our various materials and got "certified" in them.
We started with learning how to use our pencil properly and becoming certified in them.
Then we learned how to use crayons.
Next, we learned how to use markers. They loved this one!
Last, we learned how to use our scissors, this was the most difficult one! We worked on how to hold them correctly and to use our helper hand to help guide the paper as we cut.
Then we learned how to play with our materials and share with our friends.
The students made their own kissing hand poem to take home on the first day of school.
We loved playing outside too!
Since it was so hot, I brought popsicles for the students to enjoy. They enjoyed them!
Ms. Steward (our student teacher for the semester) & I at our open house.
Thank you to everyone who came out to see our classroom, it was a hot one!
After the phase in days, the students all got to meet each other and they enjoyed getting to play together!
Of course recess is a favorite!
Students drew a stick with a name of another student and made a tootle for them.
This is a positive, compliment for their friend and they all enjoyed getting one from another student!
We have been doing calendar with Ms. Riggs' class and it has been fun working with them.
There will be more pictures and updates to come as I finish more posts. Thanks for checking in!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
