This week was so much fun!
Take a look below to find out more about our awesome week full of learning and fun!
Our class won the P.E. trophy this week!
This week we learned the sight words: be, me, we, he, she.
We also reviewed the letters that we have learned so far.
For our math lessons this week we worked on finding the objects that don't belong as well as sorting objects by size, color and shape.
We worked very hard in Literacy Lab this week! Students worked with me to review the letters that we have learned so far as well as did letter and picture sorts between 2 of the letters.
We also played a sight word board game, they loved it!
Students worked independently and with Ms. Stewart on letter activities.
They also worked hard on their iReady lessons.
Mrs. Ball worked with students on reading letter books and letter activities.
For writing this week, we talked about what it means to be a writer. Then we talked about different topics that we know about and we might write about. I made a 'lightbulb' full of pictures that showed things that I know about (like teaching, my dogs, my son, etc.). Students then made their own light bulbs with what they know about and we put them in their writing folders to help them remember.
We made a light bulb as a class about the things we know about.
We learned the color word pink this week!
We reviewed the color words that we have learned so far.
Students had to read the word and then color the jukebox the correct color.
On Friday, we celebrated the 50th Day of School with Miss Riggs class (it was actually on Wednesday)!! We had so much fun dressing up. My mom, Ms. Solich even joined in on the fun!
We did some fun themed stations to celebrate! Students worked together to scoop out the 'ice cream scoops', counted them and recorded how many of each color.
In this station, students worked together to try and figure out how many syllables were in various words and recorded it.
Students enjoyed using paint to count to 50!
They also rolled a dice and colored that many dots in until they got to 50.
They tried to figure out what sound the pictures began with and colored them the matching color.
Finally, students played a "shake, rattle, and roll" game where they had to roll 2 dice and then count how many dots there were all together.
We also made root beer floats and they loved watching the reaction when we poured the root beer in with the ice cream. We talked about the gas, solid and liquid that was in our drink.
Then we got to drink/eat it of course, it was yummy!!
We did a documentation paper together for our portfolio.
We have continued to read our chapter book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and we are over half way through now!
Thanks for stopping by. Check back next week to see what we are up to next!
