We had another week full of fun and learning here in Kindergarten! We did a counting activity with goldfish crackers, continued to work on literacy skills in Literacy Lab, completed a hexagon shape activity, worked on some new stations, had an assembly for attendance & asset builder of the month, worked on our last 3 letters for our alphabet wall, learned our last color word (pink), and more!
Take a look below to see more details on our week!
Ms. Rose, our Wright State Student this semester, did a counting activity with the students using goldfish crackers. The students had to sort the crackers by color then count and record how many of each color they had. The students enjoyed this activity, especially since they got to eat them afterwards!
This week in Literacy Lab, Mrs. Roland worked with students on guided reading.
Students also worked on iReady on the Chromebooks.
In the listening station, students listened to the story "The Gingerbread Boy" and colored the Gingerbread man by number using the key and reading the color words.
I also worked with students on guided reading, pointing to each word as we read, and sounding out words. After we read the stories, we drew our own snowmen and something that we see along with words to describe our drawings.
We also did an activity practicing the shape hexagon.
Here are some of the new stations that the students have been working on recently. Some of the math activities are cutting out numbers and gluing them on the number chart in the correct order, and matching the number of buttons to the number cards.
Some of the literacy activities are feeding the penguin letter and sight word cards after naming them, matching the picture that begins with that letter, putting stickers on letter S cards, and using legos to make various letters.
On Friday we had a recognition assembly for students who had perfect attendance and birthdays last month along with the asset builder of the month. Ms. Hall announced students who had perfect attendance and birthdays for last month and they stood up to be recognized.
To celebrate those students we did a fireworks clap!
Amaiya was the district asset builder of the month for October and was presented a plaque by Mr. Myers from Farmers and Merchant Bank. We are so proud of her!
This week, we finished our last 3 letters for our alphabet wall as well as our last color word, pink.
We began working on the pink mosaic but didn't get finished so we will continue to work on it next week as well.
Here are our last 3 letter cards.
I will post a picture on the next blog post of our completed alphabet wall!
Now that we have learned all of our color words, we worked on a Color Words book.
We have continued to read Charlie & the Chocolate Factory as our whole class read aloud and we are just over half way done. We also read some holiday books this week as well.
Our Teach Town lesson this week was Ask an Adult for Help.
Here is our monthly sight words paper that I sent home on Friday.
December reading log & Homework went home as well.
Thanks for stopping by. Check back again next week to see what we are up to. Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
