We had another busy and fun week full of learning! Take a look below for more details.
Our Focus Wall for the week:
We worked hard in our Reader's Notebook this week to review letters, letter sounds, sounding out CVC words, and sight words.
As always, we practiced our sight words. We have now learned all of the Kindergarten sight words!
Of course we played our sight word spinner game, the word 'show' won!
We worked on sounding out CVC words and figured out which vowel fit in the middle.
We also practiced word families.
This week, students began taking their end of the year diagnostic assessments for iReady.
We finished the reading assessment and we began the math. They worked so hard and I am so proud of them! I will print off the results and send them home when we are all finished.
This week we also learned about oviparous animals (animals that lay eggs). We read some books about different animals that are oviparous and students chose one of the animals to write about.

Crocodile (left), Penguin (right)
Students also worked hard on their 4th quarter writing assessment to show me that they were a 4 star writer! These writing samples along with the checklist will go in the students portfolios for you to take home in the next few weeks.
I worked with students using the program ESGI to assess them for 4th quarter. I will be filling out report cards and we will be sending them home the last week of school along with the ESGI report.
I am so proud of how hard the students have worked this year!
We have been having so much fun with our End of the Year Alphabet Countdown!
We celebrated the letter M by watching a movie and decorating masks. Students brought in movies and we voted on which one we should watch. They chose the emoji movie!
Their masks turned out so cute!
For the letter N, the students wrote advice to Next Year's class.
We wore orange for the letter O day.
We had a popcorn party for the letter P day, yummy!
For the letter Q, we had some quiet outside reading time. It was a beautiful day for it!
The students got another bingo piece from earning a whole class compliment and this got us a BINGO on the bottom row! They chose to have extra recess so we got to have that on Friday as well!
I went back and forth on what to do about our Author's Reading this week and since the rain is still showing up for Tuesday I am going to move it to Thursday @1:00pm. I will be sending home a new RSVP home on Monday. It will be over at the West Carrollton library, don't forget to bring a chair or blanket to sit on. We can't wait to share with you and celebrate the end of the year!
Thanks for checking in. Stop back next week to see what we are up to next!
Hope to see you on Thursday!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
