We were excited to win the P.E. trophy this week!
Students took the math iReady diagnostic this week and they did an awesome job!
I will be sending their results home this week with their report cards.
We worked hard this week to practice reading books with our sight words in them.
We worked in our Reader's Notebook to practice vowel sounds.
As well as sounded out CVC words.
And sight words.
We reviewed the 4 seasons and sorted pictures based on which season they fit into.
We did one last sight word spinner game with the 6 words that were the hardest for us!
Our sight word 'then' won!
We did a fun secret words activity.
We had to write the beginning sound of each picture to make new words!
And a fun subtraction activity where we had to solve the problem and color all of the animals that had that number on them.
For our End of the Year Alphabet Countdown this week, we celebrated with the letters R-V.
For the letter R, we pretended like we were riding some fun roller coasters! They students enjoyed putting their hands up and leaning side to side while we pretended. We even did a stand up roller coaster!
We celebrated the students who have summer birthdays with snacks for the letter 'S' Day. Yum!
Thank you so much to everyone who sent in snack donations, we were able to enjoy snacks throughout the whole week!
For the letter T day, we wrote thank you notes to different people who have helped us this year. We made a list of teachers and other staff members who they might want to write a thank you note to. Then they chose 2 people and wrote their notes. Everyone loved getting their notes!
Here are a few examples:
USA day was for the letter U and we wore red, white, and blue.
For the letter V day, we took virtual field trips to lots of different zoos to see so many different animals. We watched videos of virtual field trips but also watched live animal web cams. While we were doing so, students were checking animals off a scavenger hunt paper as they watched. They loved this!
Then students wrote in their "I Saw a Zoo Book" about different animals they saw, such as an animal that slept, a tall animal, small animal, one that swam, etc.
On Thursday, we had our Author's Reading at the library and it was a very exciting day!
We started the fun by having a picnic lunch outside on the playground together.
Then we walked over to the library to greet our families who were there to watch us share our animal book that we published. Thank you so much to everyone who came to support us, we had a great turnout!
The students did such a great job reading both of their animal pages. I'm sorry that you couldn't hear them as well as I had hoped!
After the students were done sharing, I presented them with an award as well as an end of the year picture!
I am so proud of them and how much they have grown this year!
After we were finished, students enjoyed playing on the playground before we returned to school!
Here are the pictures that I printed for the students!
We finished reading Stuart Little and we watched the movie to compare. The story follows closer to Stuart Little 2 so that is the one we watched. The students really enjoyed reading the chapter books and watching the movies to compare this year!
We enjoyed playing outside this week too, students love playing tag!
Thanks for stopping by this week to see the fun things that we have been up to.
Check back next week to see what we are up to for our last week of school!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
