Wow, we had SUCH a busy & fun-filled week!! Take a look below for more details on our exciting week!
Our Focus Wall for the week.
We worked in our Reader's Notebooks to review the letters L & W and their sounds as well as sight words.
We worked very hard to practice our sight words this week!
Of course we played our sight word spinner game too. The sight word 'one' won!
We read about the weather in the spring time and the students wrote about the different weather you see in the spring.
They also worked on decorating a bag for their Mother's Day gifts.
We have continued to water our cosmo flower plants and they are getting so tall!
Students will be taking them home this week!
We continued to practice subtraction and taking away.
Last week we started our End of the Year Alphabet Countdown. This week we celebrated letters C-G.
For the letter C day, we did a fun dinosaur craft. Students looked at a picture of a dinosaur and then used different pasta noodles to create a skeleton of that dinosaur.
They really enjoyed this craft and they turned out so cute!
Then we wrote about it in our letter C page of our Alphabet Memories book.
For our letter D day, students wore Disney attire and we did some virtual visits to Disney throughout the day. We rode a couple of rides and watched the parade. Then we wrote about it in our book.
Students had such a fun day!
For letter E day, we did some exercises and then wrote about it.
For letter F day, students shared their favorite stuffed animal with their classmates.
G was grow up & green day. We wore green and talked about what they want to be when they grow up.
Here are a few of their responses. These will be going in their portfolios!
My mom, Ms. Solich came and helped the students put their handprint on an end of the year poem that will also be going in their portfolio.
The students were so excited when our butterflies came out of their chrysalis's! On Monday morning we had one out and the other four came out Tuesday. They were beautiful!
Students wrote about what they noticed in our butterfly books.
"Butterflies are pretty."
"They are orange and black."
We also worked on putting the life cycle in the correct order.
We talked about the life cycle of a frog as well.
On Wednesday we let 4 of our butterflies go. The last one wasn't ready and then it started raining so we tried again on Friday. The students were so sad to see them go!
Mrs. Phillip came this week to do a lesson on ways to stay healthy such as exercising and eating healthy.
Mrs. Myers class call themselves the 'kindness ninjas' and they dropped off a surprise to our class this week. They donated a book to everyone in our class and they were so excited about it!
We wrote them thank you notes to show them how appreciative we were!
We worked hard in Literacy Lab this week as well. Students worked with me on guided reading, comprehension, and sight words.
Students worked with Mrs. Ball on color words, sight words, and guided reading.
They also worked hard on their iReady lessons as well!
Students worked independently on sight words and different literacy activities.
We were so excited to see our Animal book that came this week when we unboxed it! Students loved it and enjoyed reading it together! I will keep the copies that were ordered and pass them out the day of our Author's reading so the surprise isn't spoiled!
We finished reading our book James and the Giant Peach this week as well so we watched the movie on Friday. Students enjoyed watching it and comparing the book & movie.
We love having a front row spot to watch the exciting construction on the new school building!
Thanks for stopping by this week. Check back next week to see what fun things we are up to next!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
