We had another fun and busy week this week in Kindergarten!
We started reading our new chapter book, Stuart Little. The students have enjoyed it so far!
For our math lessons, we have been working on our 3-D shapes; sphere, cylinder. cube and cone.
As always, we worked hard in Literacy Lab this week. Students worked with me to practice guided reading, sight words, rhyming, and sounding out CVC words.
Students worked with Mrs. Ball to practice guided reading, beginning sounds, and sight words.
They worked hard on their iReady lessons as well.
Students worked independently to sort words by their word families.
We also worked on the letters Dd, Ee & Ff.
We also learned the sight words not, now, well & new.
Students made their Valentine's for their families.
Mrs. Phillip did a lesson with the class on peer pressure and how to say no if something isn't safe.
We worked hard on our Valentine book about different things that we love.
Students also wrote about what love is to them.
My mom comes to help out in the classroom and when I told them her birthday was Sunday, they wanted to make her birthday cards. I put up a picture of her with my son Owen so they could remember what she looked like when they were drawing her.
We played another sight word spinner game. The sight word 'am' won. The students really enjoy these!
Friday was our 100th day of school celebration, we had so much fun dressing up like 100 year olds!
I put a 100 day certificate in each child's portfolio.
We read some books this week to get ready for the 100th day.
We also made 100 glasses.
Students used paint to make 100 dots.
They also used the numbers 1, 0, 0 to make a picture.
We watched a video that showed a person at every age from 1-100 then we discussed what happened to people as they got older (grey/white hair, wrinkles, glasses, etc.).
Then students made what they thought they would look like at 100 years old.
They turned out so cute!
We practiced counting by 10's.
Students also surveyed each other on what they would want 100 of.
Thanks for checking in this week. Come back next week to see what we are up!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
