Even though it ended up being a short week due to the snow, it was still jam packed with learning and fun! Take a look below for more details on our week.
Students got to choose their prizes from the treasure box for turning in their January homework and reading logs.
Now that we have gone through the whole alphabet, we are going back through to review them all in alphabetic order. This week we did letters Aa & Bb.
For our math lessons this week, we practiced using a hundreds chart to count to 50, 100 and count by 10's.
As always we worked hard in literacy lab!
Students met the iReady goal I gave them for the week after 2 days. We didn't get a chance to enjoy our reward so they will get to do that next week!
Students worked independently to practice letter sorts, sight word activities, etc.
Mrs. Ball worked with students to practice letter sorts, guided reading and sight words.
Students worked with me to practice sounding out and writing CVC words, guided reading, and our sight word board game.
We finished up our 100 writing book this week and students took them home.
They also shared their 100 items with the class as well. They read their clues and the other students tried to guess what their item was. They really enjoyed this!
On Tuesday, students predicted whether the groundhog would see his shadow on Wednesday. Including my vote, 11 thought he wouldn't and 13 thought that he would.
On Wednesday we watched the video showing that the groundhog did see his shadow and predicted 6 more weeks of winter. Maybe he knew the big snow storm was coming!
We also read a few groundhog books as well.
Then we filled out our groundhog day weather report.
On Tuesday, Mrs. Phillip came to talk to the class about how to make a friend as well as be a good friend.
We finished reading our 101 Dalmatians book so we watched the movie. They really enjoyed it!
I sent home the February homework and reading log.
Information about ordering our ECC cookbook if you are interested.
Orders are due by this Friday, February, 11th.
Thanks for stopping by to check in. Come back next week to see what we are up to next!
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
