Week of February 21st

Even though we had a short week, it was still busy and full of fun!
Take a look below to find out more about our exciting week.

We won the Library/Computer Lab trophy this week!
To celebrate Two's Day (2/22/22), we had a crazy sock day! I loved seeing everyone's crazy socks!
The students really enjoyed our "Guess who at two" game, thanks for sending those pictures in!
We also worked on lots of activities about the number two. Including finding the number word twos and learning all the different ways to make the number 2.
We also found and colored all of the boxes in the 100's chart that had the number 2 in them.
Then we sorted objects that come in two's and things that do not.
We graphed how many of various objects that come in two were on a page.
We also did a fun writing page about the students on Twos Day.
Finally, they gave their opinion ("Two Cents") on various topics and which one they liked better like cats or dogs. They enjoyed sharing and comparing their answers with friends.
Mrs. Phillip came to do a lesson with the class on safety around the house. We talked about things that are safe for kids and things that are not like paint, cleaner, gasoline, etc. We also talked about what to do if you find or see something that isn't safe for kids (tell an adult). We only have one more week of this program so students will be bringing their completed workbooks home next week so you can see all of the lessons we have worked on.
This week we reviewed the letters Kk & Ll.
We also played a sight word spinner game to review sight words. The students loved it! The sight word 'good' won first but we kept going so everyone could have a turn and we ended up having 3 words win!
For our math lessons, we started working on addition.
We also did a fun crack the code addition activity!
We also worked hard in Literacy Lab this week as well! Students worked with me to practice guided reading, CVC word puzzles, and writing sentences with sight words.
Students worked independently to practice sight words and identifying beginning sounds.
Students worked hard on their iReady lessons as well!
Mrs. Ball worked with students to practice guided reading, letters/sounds, and a beginning sound sort.
We have been working hard on writing sentences in the last few weeks. For example, students wrote "I like ______" and then sounded out a word to finish the sentence. We also wrote "I see_____" sentences. You can practice writing sentences with your child at home too!
Thanks for checking in. Come back next week to see all the fun happening. Have a great week!
