Week of March 21st

We had a wonderful last week before Spring Break!
Take a look below to find out more about our fun week.

We earned the P.E. trophy this week!
Also, on Monday when I was gone, the students got a whole class tootle from Mr. Doyle. On Friday, our friend Kai-El had his name chosen as a tootle prize winner and Mr. Doyle sent up rings for the whole class for the tootle they won. Congratulations everyone!
I hung up the students ripped paper rainbows as well as their directed drawing leprechauns on our bulletin board. They did such a great job!
Students picked their March Scholastic books to take home.
We worked hard in Literacy Lab this week.
Students worked on their iReady lessons.
They also worked independently to review sight words, word family sorts, and find sight words in books.
Mrs, Ball worked with students to practice CVC words, word family sorts, sight words, and guided reading.
I worked with students on a CVC puzzle, word ladder, guided reading, and a sight word game.
We also learned the color word gray this week.
We practiced long & short vowel sounds.
As well as CVC & CVCE words- we sounded out words like 'mad' then added a silent e to the end to make a new word like 'made'.
We also reviewed sight words this week with our sight word spinner game.
The word 'say' won!
We also reviewed our 3-D shapes.
Practiced subtraction and word problems.
We also started working on Poetry. We will be publishing our own Poetry book using the company Studentreasures. Below are some examples of books from previous years. So far, we have learned how to write color, alphabet and acrostic poems.
Students have enjoyed writing poems so far!
They like sharing them with each other as well.
On Friday we did a fun "Walking Water" experiment. The first picture below shows the set up and the next pictures show what it looked like later after the water "walked"into the empty cups and mixed together. We made a rainbow!
Students earned a bingo piece for their PAX leader behavior while I was not there and it earned them a BINGO (circled below). So on Friday we earned extra recess, even though it was a little cold!
We are hoping for warmer weather soon.
Below are some important dates & things sent home this week.
Left: Poetry pook order form (optional);
Right: Field trip permission slip (needs signed and returned in order for your child to attend)
Thanks for stopping by to see the fun things we have been up to.
I hope you all have a wonderful Spring Break and I will see your children back on Monday, April 4th!
