Shapes, Name Webs, & More!

With another busy week full of fun in Kindergarten, we have lots to share. We worked on many various literacy skills in Literacy Lab, completed shape practice activities for circle & triangle, completed a pumpkin counting book, made name webs, wrote about what we were going to be for Halloween, shared our work with our Preschool Reading Buddies, learned 2 new letters and completed the letter cards for them, finished our purple mosaic and began working on our white mosaic, and read many more Mo Willems books! Take a look below for more details.

In Literacy Lab, Mrs. Arnold worked with students on recognizing letters and matching pictures to their beginning sounds.
Students also worked on iReady lessons as well.
In the Listening Center, students listened to the story There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat & glued the pictures in order to retell the story in sequential order.
Mrs. Roland worked with the students on rhyming words & syllables.
I worked with groups on reading books about the letter D & L, recognizing and writing the letters and words that begin with them & sorting pictures by their beginning letter.
We practiced recognizing a circle, cutting it out, gluing it on the page, and drawing their own circles.
We also did the same thing with a triangle as well.
For our Pumpkin Patch Counting book, we practiced reading the sentence on each page, writing the numbers, and the students had to cut out the correct number of hands to match the number.
Since we have been reading Charlotte's Web I wanted the kids to be able to make their own web with their name in it and they loved this activity! First, we looked at pictures to see the details in spider webs. Then the students used a white colored pencil or crayon on black construction paper to create the lines of their web.
Mrs. Boxley helped the students use their choice in color of glitter glue to write their name in the middle of their web. They turned out so great and I can't wait to hang them up so you can see them at conferences!
This week, the students also wrote about what they were going to dress up as for Halloween. They traced the first words then tried to sound out what they were going to be and I helped them write it. Here are a few examples.
This week, the students chose their best pieces of writing from their writing folder to put in their portfolios. They shared these stories as well as our letter G book with their Preschool Reading Buddies on Friday.
This week the students earned their letter N & G books.
We also drew pictures to create our alphabet letter cards for our Alphabet Wall.
The students finished our purple mosaic and I hung it up on the wall.
Next, we started the white mosaic.
We read lots more of Mo Willems books this week and the students really enjoyed them! We have finished reading all of the Elephant & Piggie books but have more of his books to read still as well.
Here you can see all of the Elephant & Piggie books in our library that we have read!
This week is Spirit Week in honor of Halloween. Please look below to see what each day will be. Please no masks or weapons on Tuesday.
I sent a paper home last week for you to confirm your conference time with me. Thank you to everyone who have returned theirs already. If you have not already done so, please fill it out and send it back to school as soon as you can!! Thank you.
Thanks for checking in. Please check back again next week to see what we are up to next!
Have a great week!
