We FINALLY won the Super Quiet Hallway Walker Trophy!

They have been trying to win this one all year and they were so excited to finally earn it!

During lunch time, Mr. Doyle picks a table who is being a PAX leader to get the cafeteria trophy that day.

One of our tables won and they were so excited!

We learned the sight words: are, little, with.

We also worked on the letters Ll, Rr & Oo this week.

Students colored the uppercase letters one color and the lowercase letters another color to reveal a picture!

We also worked on our November pages in our portfolios where students wrote their letters, numbers, shapes, and drew a picture of themselves.

For our math lessons, we continued to work on measuring in various ways and ended the week with a review of the different ways we measured (length, height, weight, capacity, etc.).

In Literacy Lab this week, students worked with me to practice guided reading, our letters of the week, and we played our sight word board game!

Students worked hard on their iReady lessons as well!

Mrs. Ball worked with students to practice letters, sounds, and guided reading.

Ms. Stewart worked with students to practice writing the letters in alphabetical order, matching uppercase letters to lowercase letters, and letter sorts.

Students finished writing in their thankful books and took them home to share them with their families.

Our October Scholastic books FINALLY arrived so the students got to pick out which one they wanted to take home and keep! They were so excited!

We also finished reading our chapter book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory so we watched the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, the students really enjoyed it! Afterwards, we compared what was the same between the book and the movie as well as what was different.

We read a funny Thanksgiving book about a turkey who likes to eat silly things!

We worked on labeling this week during writing. We are working on labeling things using the beginning and ending sounds. For example, for the word jump the student would write "jp". If they hear more sounds than just the beginning and the end, they can try to write those as well. If your child asks you for help at home, don't just tell them how to spell a word! Instead help them sound it out and write the sounds they hear. This is called invented spelling and is an important step in learning how to write.

Students wrote about what they thought they were going to eat for Thanksgiving dinner and tried to label the foods they drew.

Ms. Stewart did a directed drawing of a turkey with the students and we hung them up on the bulletin board in the hallway. They turned out so good!

As a class, we talked about what we were thankful for and made a list of 10 things. Students chose 4 of the things from our list (or made their own) and created a thankful turkey! I love how they turned out!

I hope they shared them with you when they brought them home.

On Friday, we made a fruit salad for our friendship feast. Everyone got to work together to either add fruit or help us mix it all together. We made 2 bowls of fruit salad and all of the food was so yummy!

We spent the week learning a song about being thankful and we sang it with Ms. Riggs class. Ask your child to sing it to you and do the sign language! The words are: "Thank you for the friends we meet, thank you for the food we eat, thank you for our work and play, thank you for this happy day".

Thank you to everyone who brought things in for our feast in order to make it successful. We had so much fun and were stuffed!! We loved celebrating our friendships with ours & Ms. Riggs friends!!
