Week of November 8th

We had another fun week here in Kindergarten! Take a look below for more details.

Each day during lunch, Mr. Doyle has been choosing tables who are PAX leaders to receive a trophy.
One of our class tables was really excited to receive the trophy!
This week, we worked on how to be a 3 star colorer. We practiced during writing time by coloring inside the lines, fill in the white spaces, and using the appropriate colors.
This week we worked on learning the letter Ll & it's sound.
We reviewed the color sight words; yellow, blue, black and brown.
For our math lessons, we reviewed the previous chapter on sorting.
Then we started a new chapter on measuring. We measured by length and height. We also estimated how long an object would be and then used cubes to find out.
We also worked so hard in Literacy Lab this week as well!

Students worked hard on their iReady lessons.
Students worked with me to practice guided reading as well as our sight words and the letter of the week.
Students worked independently on letter review practice, upper/lowercase letter sorts, and a beginning sound puzzle where students matched the picture with the letter that it begins with.
Students worked with Mrs. Ball on guided reading and letter practice.
We started our Thanksgiving/November workstations this week and the students enjoyed them so much!
In our literacy workstations, students matched upper & lowercase letters, read color words, read and wrote sight words, matched pictures with the letter they begin with, and figured out how many syllables different foods have.
In the math workstations, students made patterns on turkey feathers, counted feathers and matched the number to the amount of feathers, read various numbers and made them in a tens frame, put together pie number puzzles, and matched turkey feathers with different ways to write various numbers to the matching turkey.
Since Thanksgiving is coming up, we started talking about what we are thankful for. Students wrote and drew about it. Then they chose a piece of construction paper for their backing. I laminated them and we will be using them as placemats Friday for our friendship feast. Afterwards, the students will be taking them home to share with their families.
We also started writing in a thankful book this week. We wrote about being thankful for our friends, pets, home, and food so far. We will continue to work on finishing our book next week!
Thanks for checking in. Stop back next week to see what we are up to next!

Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
