Victoria Theater Field Trip & More!

This week was so busy and full of so many fun things! We worked hard on our Journey's curriculum and in our Reader's Notebook. We celebrated and wrote about Earth Day, worked hard in Literacy Lab, and worked on the letter H. We continued to observe and document what we have noticed with our changing caterpillars. On Thursday we went on a field trip to the High School to see a preview of the Seussical musical and on Friday we went on a field trip to the Victoria Theater to see a performance of The Magic School Bus: Lost in Space. Students wrote about their favorite part from our field trip on Friday and shared that with their Preschool Reading Buddies. The students received their April books, worked with Mrs. Boxley on an end of the year poem, continued to take care of and watch our flowers grow, and much more!
Take a look below for more details on our exciting week!

Our Journey's focus wall this week.
Students worked in their Reader's Notebook on sight words.
Words that start with letter H & K.
Sounding out words and writing complete sentences.
We also celebrated  Earth Day by talking, reading, and writing about how we can help the Earth.
We also solved addition problems to crack Earth Day codes.
"Plant a Tree"
"Happy Earth Day"
As always we worked hard in Literacy Lab as well! Students worked with me on reading books and answering comprehension questions about what we read.
Students worked with Mrs. Ball on making a book on various blends such as -th, -sh and -ch.
Students worked independently on putting pictures together to create words and practicing sight words.
They also worked hard on their iReady lessons as well!
We worked on the letter H. Reading about, making a list of words, and drawing pictures of words that begin with H. Our letter H card turned out great!
We continued to watch our caterpillars change and grow. They got really fat and turned into a chrysalis. Once they did, I put them in our butterfly house so the students could continue to observe them until they turn into butterflies.

We have been documenting the different stages of our caterpillars as they go. So far we have watched them change from caterpillars, then make a letter J shape, and now into a chrysalis.
The students can't wait for them to turn into butterflies!
On Thursday, we went on a field trip over to the high school to watch a preview performance of their Seussical musical. They students really enjoyed it!
On Friday we went on a field trip to the Victoria Theater to see a performance of The Magic School Bus: Lost in Space. We were excited to have Savannah's mom, Sheiila, be our bus driver!
We had a great time and the students really enjoyed the performance!
All of the Kindergarten classes also ate lunch at the Victoria Theater too.
It was crazy but they had so much fun!
When we got back to school, students wrote about their favorite part of the Magic School Bus performance.
Then they shared their favorite part about the field trip as well as their letter H books with their Preschool Reading Buddies.
Students received their free books for April and they were so excited!
Our class delivered the P.E. trophy to Mrs. Myers class because they won it this week.
We also worked on discussing the difference between wants and needs and students sorted pictures.
Mrs. Boxley worked with students on making an end of the year poem for their portfolios.
We continued to take care of our flowers by watering them and watching them grow.
Every day more and more of them are sprouting!
Our vegetables are continuing to grow so big!
We enjoyed playing outside in the nice weather this week as well!
Our class is only one buckeye (compliment) away from getting a class reward. They came up with ideas on what they wanted when they are able to earn it and they chose to have a group game of sharks and minnows. So hopefully we will be doing that soon!
Since our field trip was about space, we read some books about space as well.
Important papers sent home this week:

RSVP for our scavenger hunt. Please send it back to school with your response as soon as you can so we know how many people to expect!
