End Of The Year

We had a relaxing last two days of school! It was nice to have some fun and cherish our last two days together. We played more minute to win it games! Some of them are blurry because they are action shots! Take a look below. The first game we played was called "Go Fishing". The kids had to use a paper plate to get a tissue paper fish to the other side of the room by fanning.
For "Keep It Up" they had to work together with a partner to keep their balloon up in the air using their hands, feet, head, and any other body part they could.
The children had fun with "Nose Diving". They put a little bit of vaseline on their noses and had to transfer cotton balls from one plate to another by making them stick to their nose and then shaking it off onto the other plate.
For "Skittle Skurry" they had to use a straw to suck up the skittles to move them to the other plate.
"Junk In The Trunk" was definitely their favorite of the games we played this week! They had an empty tissue box tied to their waist and it had 10 ping pong balls in it. They had to jump, shake, twist, etc. in order to get all of the ping pong balls out. They enjoyed cheering each other on and watching them move in order to get them out.
Tabitha's hair kept getting stuck in the box so she had to hold it. She had a case of the giggles!
On our last day we enjoyed watching a movie with Miss Previte's class while we enjoyed some popsicles as well!
I hope you all enjoyed watching the video we made for you! We watched it many times after our awards per the request of the kids and I know they enjoyed it! I can't believe the year is over. It went by so fast!! The room is packed up and everything is put away. I wanted to let you know that I will be moving to room 207 for next year and getting a Promethean Board!! So if you would like to come visit (please do!!), you will know where to find me!

I will miss you all so much! It is time for them to leave us and go on to first grade. I know they will all do great because they now have those 21st century skills that they developed over the course of the year! They have learned to read, write, and do math but they have also learned how to problem solve, work together with their peers, finish their work, do their best work, come up with creative ideas, create plans, respect their peers and teachers, take part in their learning and deciding what they would like to learn about, and many more important skills! It is important for children to have these skills as a foundation for their education in order for them to be successful in the future. I am so proud of the students and everything they have accomplished this year!

Have a great summer!

Minute To Win It Games, Auction, Video/Awards

We spent the week playing some fun minute to win it inspired games! The kids really enjoyed playing these and looked forward to learning new ones every day. The first one was called "Flip Your Lid" and they had to flip the cup onto the different sized jars.
The next game was called, "There She Blows" and they had to use a straw to blow a cup across the table. For this game, two students raced until everyone got a turn. They had a fun time cheering everyone on until everyone got their cup to the other side.
"A Bit Dicey" was a lot easier for the kids than I thought it would be! They put a popsicle stick in their mouth and balanced three dice on top of each other. They enjoyed this game as well!
In the game, "Scrambled Breakfast" they had to put a puzzle together to make a picture of a cereal box.

The last game, "Face The Cookie" was definitely the kids favorite!! They thought it was hilarious to watch me model how to get the Oreo into their mouths by moving their face muscles and using their tongue to help them! This was really tricky for them! No one was able to get the cookie into their mouth this way and many fell on the floor. We did get to enjoy a fresh cookie though after everyone had a turn!
We had our end of the year auction and we had a lot of things set up around the room that the students could choose to take home. We auctioned off our color mosaics, our playground map, our number cards, Charlotte's Web sequencing illustrations, documentation panels, alphabet cards, and numbers from our number line
Here are pictures of what some of the kids chose from our auction!
We had a great turnout for our end of the year video and awards! Thank you to everyone who was able to come! The kids were all excited to have you all there supporting us and I was very grateful as well. I hope you all enjoyed your DVD's. The kids wanted to watch it over and over again at school so I hope they were able to do so at home!
We also made a circle and reflected on our year together. I asked questions and each student had a turn to think about it and give their answer. Some of the questions we asked were: "What was your favorite thing we did this year? What was the hardest thing you did this year? What was the nicest thing someone did for you?".
At the end of the week we had a reward of watching Frozen! The kids have talked about it so much this year and I actually hadn't seen it yet. We voted on a couple different choices and of course this one won!
Thanks for stopping by! Looking forward to a great last two days of school!
Have a great week!
