Plants, Show & Tell, and More!

We had a fun and busy week here in Kindergarten! We worked on our Journeys curriculum, worked hard in Literacy Lab, and made our letter L alphabet card. For writing students wrote about their favorite season, plants and Earth Day. Students watered, observed, and documented what they noticed about their growing flowers. We discussed the life cycle of a plant and put the pictures in order. Since Earth Day is Monday, we read a book and wrote about what we could do to help the Earth. Since our Student Treasures publishing date was Friday, we watched a video on what is happening to our book next. We also worked on making something for Mother's Day and had a Show & Tell. Students also shared their work with their preschool reading buddies, observed our caterpillars, worked hard on our iReady lessons and earned the P.E. trophy.
Take a look below for more details on our fun week!

Our Focus Wall for the week
Students worked in their Reader's Notebook on sight words and reviewing the letter E.
Sounding out words to match the pictures and capitalizing Months of the Year and Days of the Week.
We worked hard in Literacy Lab too!
Students worked with me on guided reading & answering questions about what we read.
Students worked independently on reading sentences and following the directions on what to color.
They also worked on putting pictures together to make words in the -op family.
As well as practicing sight words.
Students worked with Mrs. Ball on reading a book with short e words and creating a book about the blend -th.
For Fun Friday, students watched the story "The Case of the Missing Carrot Cake" and discussed it with Mrs. Ball.
We reviewed the letter L, the sound, and the students drew pictures to make our alphabet card.
Students earned their letter L book.
For writing this week, students wrote about their favorite season and why.
They also continued observing their flowers and documenting what they noticed.
Students have continued to water their flowers and some have started to sprout!
We have also continued to watch our vegetables grow as well!
We discussed the life cycle of a plant and students glued the pictures in order.
Since Earth Day is Monday, we read a book and wrote about what we can do to help the Earth.
Our poetry book publishing date with Student Treasures was on Friday so in order to celebrate we watched a video that shows us what is happening next to our book.
Mrs. Boxley worked with students on making something for Mother's Day!
Our class earned show & tell from meeting their last iReady goal so we did that on Friday.
Students enjoyed sharing a special item with the class.
Kindergarten students shared their letter L and Earth Day books with their Preschool Reading Buddies. This week we went down to their classroom to share and work with them!
We continued to observe our caterpillars throughout the week and they have gotten so big!
We are hoping to see them turn into J's and begin to make their chrysalis next week.
After they went way over the last goal, I gave them a more difficult goal for the next 2 weeks!
I forgot to add in the lessons they passed from Friday so they are actually at 70 for the first week.
Our class earned the P.E trophy for the week so Mrs. Vogt's class came to deliver it to us!
