Week of February 28th

We had a fun-filled week in Kindergarten this week! Take a look below to find out more!

This week we reviewed the letters Mm-Qq and their sounds.
We learned the sight words: our, out.
Last week the students earned another art part but with the unexpected day off, we weren't able to do it.  So we had our art party this week and most of the students worked on making books. They enjoyed it!
For our math lessons this week, we continued working on addition and finished our chapter.
We will start working on subtraction next week!
We finished our PAX lessons this week with talking about how to make healthy choices. Students finished the last page in their student workbooks so they took it home. I hope they shared everything they learned with you all!
As always, we worked hard in Literacy Lab this week. Students worked hard on their iReady lessons.
They also worked independently to make CVC words, practice sight words, upper/lowercase letter sort and sorting rhyming words.
Mrs. Ball worked with students to practice letters/sounds, sight words, and guided reading.
Students worked with me to practice guided reading, sight words, long/short vowel sounds, and a picture sort for the blend 'th'.
For fun Friday, Mrs. Ball did a directed drawing of the cat in the hat with the students.
They did such a great job!
We have also been working so hard to sound out CVC words.
Students completed some color by numbers to create pictures.
We also went through their writing folders this week and students chose their best work to go in their portfolio. They got to take the rest of their work home and share it with their families.

We have been working hard to finish our book Stuart Little.
We have one chapter left and then we will watch the movie to compare!
Students also met their iReady goal exactly this week and earned extra recess on Friday!
This week I sent home the March reading log & homework.
Thanks for checking in and seeing all of the fun things we have been up to.
Come back next week to see what we are up to next.

Have a great week.
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
