Getting Ready For Conferences

We spent most of the week getting ready for conferences! The kids added the beads they have earned so far to their achievement rings. They were so excited to do this and asked a lot of questions about what they had to do to earn the rest of the beads. Here are pictures of some of our friends adding their beads!
We added our names to the word wall under the correct letter it stars with. At the beginning of the year we made a class contract with our classroom rules on it and we finally got around to signing our names to it and we hung it up!
We worked really hard on finishing the flag this week and we were able to do so on Thursday! The kids were so excited to share it with their families at conferences! We worked really hard to finish gluing the pieces of paper for the stripes and then making the stars.

Putting the last star on the flag!!
The finished flag hanging on our wall. The kids did a great job!

We worked on the brown and white color mosaics and finished them this week. We only have the black and pink color mosaics remaining.

We chose which of our documentation pieces from our exploration journal we wanted to put in our portfolios to share with our families at conferences. We practiced sharing with our friends and telling them what exactly it was that we did that they were documenting.
Then we practiced sharing our whole portfolios with 3 different friends from our class. The kids went through everything from first quarter that way they were prepared to share with you all later.

We then went down to Mrs. Atkin's classroom to share our portfolios with her friends. We paired up and her friends shared their portfolios first and then our friends shared with them as well. This was a great exercise to help the children with their speaking skills as well as their listening skills. I really enjoyed listening to them share their portfolios so confidently and the children really enjoyed getting to share as well.
As I have mentioned before, the children had earned all 30 of the buckeyes and for their reward they  chose an ice cream party. They got to choose chocolate chips or sprinkles on top of their ice cream if they wanted as well. The kids were so excited and all enjoyed this nice treat! Here are some pictures of the class enjoying their ice cream!
Mrs. Gore's class was learning about friendship, how to be a good friend and are making a friendship chain. They invited us to come talk about what it means to be a good friend and some of her friends wrote what it means to them to be a good friend and they shared that with us. We then paired up and they introduced themselves and talked about being a friend. We then put our names on a strip of paper to add to their friendship chain. They enjoyed getting to know Mrs. Gore's friends and will have more opportunities to do so since we will be having our friendship feast in 2 weeks with her class as well as Mrs. Atkin's class.
Kuryn and Emma found these fuzzies all over our playground and were putting them in their hair and clothes. They were fascinated by them!
Also, we started reading Charlotte's Web this week. We are reading a chapter a day and discussing as we go. So far the children are really enjoying it! Ask your children what is happening in the book each day!

Have a great week! If you plan on coming to our friendship feast please fill out the gold paper we gave you at conferences and send it back to school by the 13th so we are able to get a count of how many people are attending!
