Bones Activity, Leaf Walk, Caring Rally, Portfolios, Etc.

Last week was another busy one! We have been working very hard in Kindergarten. Take a look at what we have been working on. In literacy lab, we worked on practicing the letters G & N. In the listening center, the students listened to "Pete the Cat I Love My White Shoes" and created a Pete the Cat craft.
Since Monday was Halloween, we did an activity with the Cheetos Bag of Bones. Each student sorted the bones they had, graphed them, and labeled their skeletons. They really enjoyed this and of course we got to eat them when we were finished. They were very yummy!
We read the story "Leaf Man" then we went on a leaf hunt around the school to collect leaves. The students then used those leaves to create their own leaf creations. Some made a leaf man also but other chose to make a circle, fish, house, etc.
We worked on the letters U & J this week.
We worked very hard on getting our portfolios ready for conferences. Once they were ready, we practiced sharing them with our peers in order to be prepared to share them with their families at conferences.
Friday we had our caring rally for first quarter. Four classes presented to the school ways that we could care for ourselves. They acted out a way we care for ourselves and the crowd had to guess what they were showing. Things such as eating healthy, showering, exercising, brushing your teeth, etc. In the following quarters, we will focus on caring about others, our school, and our community.
The students have also been working hard on making our red and blue mosaics to hang up in our classroom. They also created labels to hang under them to help us if we forget how to spell them. They turned out awesome! We will continue working on creating mosaics for our classroom for the other color words we have worked on.
Now that we have finished reading Charlotte's Web & watched the movie, we have begun reading Charlie & the Chocolate Factory. The students are really enjoying it. Ask them to tell you about the story.
The students have enjoyed playing the games they have been learning in P.E. (physical education) class with Mr. Doyle while we are outside on the playground at recess. Below you can see them playing duck, duck goose in the top left and bottom right, simon says in the top right, and Mr. Fox in the bottom left.
The students worked on observing the pumpkins in our science area and taking out the seeds. We had to get rid of them because they got moldy and stinky!
Thanks for stopping by, check back next week to see what we are up to next!
