Name Activities, International Dot Day & More!

Due to QPT Day, we had another short week this week but we were busy!! We met a new friend, learned about a new letter & how to spell a new color word, 4 more friends shared their treasure blocks, worked on name activities in Literacy Lab, completed 2 more pages in our Interactive School Rules book, and celebrated International Dot Day. Take a look below for more details!

Meet our new friend Kevin.
Here is the letter Ff card that the students made last week.
We worked on the letter Mm this week and the students drew pictures for our letter M card.
It turned out great!
The students earned their letter M books, we practiced reading them together and they got to take them home to practice further.
Along with their letter M books, the students also earned their color blue books. We worked on it all week and they remembered how to spell blue, we also practiced reading the books as a class and they got to take them home. Have your child practice reading these books to you at home!
We will learn how to spell yellow next.
Here is the color blue song:
On Monday, Miss Rose (our Wright State student) shared her treasure block, we made a web with what we learned about her, and the students drew her pictures which were made into a book for her to take home.
Tuesday we learned about our friend Jenna A.
Thursday we learned about Gage.
Friday we learned about Janah M.
In Literacy Lab this week, the students worked on name activities. They listened to The Very Hungry Caterpillar and made their own name caterpillar using the letters in their name.
They had to count the letters in their name, glue that many circles down and then write the letters on each circle. They did a great job and they turned out beautifully!
They also listened to the story Chrysanthemum and made their own name flower. Again, they counted the letters in their name, glued that many petals around the middle, and wrote the letters in their name on each petal.
We worked on 2 more pages in our Interactive School Rules book. The pages we completed were "I will be nice to my friends." & "I will keep hands and feet to myself.". The students had to practice using scissors to cut out the appropriate pictures, glue them on the page and color them.
Friday was International Dot Day so we read the story "The Dot" by Peter Reynolds and the students made their mark by creating their own dot. Take a look at their creations below.
First, the students used markers to create beautiful pictures on coffee filters. The students also noticed that these were shaped like a dot!
Next, they sprayed a few squirts of water on their coffee filter and were amazed what it did to the marker!
Here are just a few, they turned out awesome!
Here are some of the stories that we read this week.
Important papers sent home this week:

Picture day is coming on September 26th so the order form was sent home if you would like to order.
