Alphabet Countdown H-L, Mother's Day Gifts & More!

We had another busy and fun week here in Kindergarten!
Take a look below to find out more about what exciting things we have been up to!

Our Focus Wall for the week:

Our class won the music trophy this week so we were very proud to be able to display it outside our classroom all week!
We practiced finding words in the same word families. This helped us get better at sounding out words.
We also worked on a read and find activity. We had to read the CVC words, find the picture that matches and color it in. The students are getting so good at sounding out words!
We worked really hard to practice our sight words for this week!
Of course we played our sight word spinner game as well, the sight word 'very' won!
We read a book and talked about things that you wear in the spring.
Then students wrote about something that they wear in the springtime.
Students worked hard in their Reader's Notebooks to review letters & letter sounds as well as sight words.
For math this week, we practiced addition and subtraction.
We also practiced different ways to make 10 with addition.
We did a fun survey activity where students had to find one of their classmates who liked various things and write their name in the correct box.
For our alphabet countdown this week, we celebrated the letters H-L.
Monday was Hat Day.
Tuesday, we enjoyed Ice Pops, yum!
On Wednesday, we wore our favorite team's Jersey!
Thursday was Kick Off Our Shoes Day. Students got to take their shoes off while we were working and they really enjoyed it!
On Friday, we enjoyed (pink) lemonade!
As always, we worked hard in Literacy Lab this week!
Students worked with me to practice guided reading, reading comprehension and sight words.
Students worked with Mrs. Ball on practicing sight words, color words and guided reading.
Students worked hard on their iReady lessons as well!
Next week, students will begin taking the 4th quarter iReady diagnostic assessment.
Students worked independently to practice sight words and other literacy activities.
On Thursday, four high school students came to visit our classroom for the Book Drive. They read the story 'Wacky Wednesday" to the class and then students made their own wacky story. Finally, students got to pick a book to take home, they were so excited and grateful!
Students continued to take care of their flowers this week and they wrote about them in their plant journals one final time before we took them home!
The students also made Mother's Day cards as part of their gifts as well.
They were so excited to take their gifts home to the special women in their lives! Mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and everyone else. Happy Mother's Day, I hope you enjoyed your gifts!
I have began working with students to start testing for 4th quarter!
We started reading our last chapter book together this week, "Stuart Little". The students are enjoying it!
Of course we enjoyed playing outside as well!
I sent home the May Reading log. It is due Monday, May 24th.
