Week of December 6th

We had another busy week full of fun, learning and more. Take a look below to find out more.

We learned about the letter Ww and it's sound.
We learned the sight words: jump, was, will, went.
Thursday was Ms. Stewart's last day. She had all of the students sign a paper that she attached to the top of her graduation cap. It turned out so cute!

The students made a book for Ms. Stewart about why they thought she would be a great teacher! Here are some of their responses. She really enjoyed the book!
We also made a thumbprint tree for her so she can always remember us!
For our math lessons, we worked on recognizing, counting to and writing teen numbers.
In Literacy Lab, students worked on a color by letter, color by sight word, letter picture sorts, and practiced guided reading.
They also worked hard on their iReady lessons!
Students worked with Mrs. Ball to review letters, letter sounds, letter sound sorts, and guided reading.
Students worked with me on letter sound sorts, sight word games, and guided reading.
For writing this week, students wrote their Christmas wish list on what they wanted for Christmas.
Students also wrote about how they would make the grinch grin.
We have been working so hard during writing time on adding labels to our stories using the beginning sound as well as the ending sound. They are getting so good at sounding out words to add the labels to their pictures,
Mrs. Phillip came to do a PAX lesson about things that we can do as a Kindergartener and things that we aren't big enough for yet.
Then students worked in their workbooks to set a goal that they would like to achieve.
Students worked hard in their portfolios, updating their December pages.
We also did lots of fun holiday activities this week:
We colored a gingerbread house by number.
Ms. Solich came and helped the students decorate their ornaments. I can't wait for you to see them!
Ms. Stewart did a directed drawing with the students to draw a reindeer.
We read the story the Gingerbread Man and did a sequencing activity where we put the events in order.
We read a fun book about shapes!
We finished reading our chapter book Mr. Popper's Penguins so we started watching the movie.
We will finish watching it next week!
Our Holiday Spirit Week
Thanks for checking in. Come back next week to see all about our fun last week before break!

Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
