We had another busy week here in Kindergarten! Mrs. Rawlins was in on Monday & Tuesday working with the students while I worked one-on-one to update each student's data folder and assessments. While she was in our classroom, she shared a few of her books with the students about animals and ocean life. This week, we were busy researching for our ocean study, continuing to practice reading books, sharing with our preschool reading buddies, working with some new I Wonder stations, choosing our best pieces of writing to add to our portfolio & we met our new Wright State student for the semester: Ms. Dupont.
Here are a few examples of the books that we worked on this week.
This week during writing time, the students wrote facts about what they have learned from our ocean study. The students practiced reading our books and sharing their writing from the week with their peers in order to get ready to share with our preschool reading buddies.
We also sang some songs with our preschool reading buddies. Below are pictures of the students watching a letter 'M' video.
During our I Wonder stations we added an ipad station! We discussed appropriate apps that the students could use to learn if they choose to work in this area.
We also added paint to our art area! The students were very excited to express themselves through art and began creating fantastic artwork!
These are just some of the books that we read this week in order to research for our ocean study! We learned lots of really cool facts!
This Look Closer Ocean book had so many cool pictures and interesting information that we learned about this week. Ask your child to tell you about some of the things that we learned about the ocean this week!
Since Friday was the last day of 2nd quarter, the students went through their writing folders and chose their best work to add to their portfolios. We can't wait to share them with you at conferences in the spring!
Ms. Dupont will be working with us this semester and we were very excited to meet her and have her began working with the students.
This week, the students noticed that our pumpkin plant started sprouting flower buds! They can't wait to see what happens next.
The students were very excited to see all of the snow we got on Tuesday! We might be having a weather study in the future because they are very interested!
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
