100th Day of School & More!

We had a busy week full of getting ready for our 100th day of school and many more activities! Take a look at what we did below.

We have continued to read ocean animal books in literacy lab. The shark book pictured below was a book that I read with my group in literacy lab and it had lots of great facts. At the end of the book, we wrote about what we thought the most interesting fact was.
We have also practiced reading books with environmental print in them. These are symbols that students are familiar with because they see them in their environment such as Target, McDonalds, Walmart, etc.
We also finished up getting our necklaces ready for the 100th day of school.
We made a sign to hang above our classroom door for the 100th day as well!
They did such a great job, it looked awesome! Friday was our 100th day of school celebration and we had a busy but fun filled day.
I wore my "Happy 100th Day of School" shirt and the students loved it! We read lots of stories about the 100th day of school throughout the week and Fancy Nancy was just one of them.

I sent home some activities for you to work on at home related to the 100th day of school. I hope you enjoyed working on them with your child!
I also made a 100 day snack to send home with each child. I hope you enjoyed this together as they shared information about our awesome day with you.
In Literacy Lab, we read a story about the 100th day of school and then we made different pictures using the numbers from 100. They all turned out so great and it was awesome to see all the different things they were able to make with the numbers 1, 0 & 0.

We read a book, "100th Day of School" and colored the pages according to the words. We colored 100 objects different colors. They did a great job following the directions.

We worked so hard on writing about the number 100 this week as well. We wrote about what we wish we had 100 of such as jellybeans, pennies, cans of tomatoes, and dollar bills like mentioned below.
We also wrote about what we wouldn't want 100 of such as brothers, broccoli, and cheeze-its.
Then they wrote about what they could eat 100 of like cans of soups, marshmallows cupcakes, or bananas.
Along with what they could never eat 100 of such as peppers, donuts, bolognas, and pickles.
Lastly, we wrote about what we would do if we had $100, like buy shopkins, buy a car, or buy a fish.
We practiced reading our books about 100 as well as our sight work books to our peers in order to prepare for our preschool reading buddies.
The students also shared with the class what they brought in for their 100 day collection.

Then they shared their books, and collections all with their preschool reading buddies.

We did a rotation with other classes for the 100th day. In our classroom, they watched a video about people in order from 1-100 and we talked about how they changed.
 They matched their skin color.
They drew what they thought they would look like when they were 100 including wrinkles and using cotton balls as hair or facial hair.
They turned out so silly. Here are just a few!
Here are the pictures from the rest of the classroom rotations. In Mrs. Keck's classroom, the students put 100 gum balls in the gum ball machines using paint and counting by 10's.
In Mrs. Smith's classroom, the students completed different exercises for 100 seconds each.
In Miss Riggs' classroom, the students used 100 of different objects to built with.
We also did an activity where the students had to come up and choose a Hershey kiss from the bag with a number on the bottom of it. They had to tell me the number and we had to find it on the 100's chart. They loved this activity!
 "We are 100 days smarter!"
I used an app on my phone to age the students and make them look like they were 100. They thought this was hilarious and they wanted me to share them all with you so here they are. I even did myself!
Spring pictures were this week as well.
While there was still snow on the ground we were able to enjoy playing outside for a little while. The students really wanted to have a snowball fight so we talked about how to have a safe and gentle snowball fight including only hitting from the shoulders down. They had a great time!
Next week we will begin working on our ocean animal projects and creations. I can't wait to share them all with you! Thanks for stopping by, have a great week!
