We had a jam packed week full of fun and learning. Check out what we have been up to below!
We finished painting our clay ocean animals this week as well as almost finished up our all about books. We will finish our all about books next week as well as our group presentation projects.
Meet our new friend Adasen who joined our classroom this week. The students were very helpful to her in showing her around our classroom and the school. They couldn't wait to know more about her and were very welcoming. She is a great addition to our classroom!
Tuesday was Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America Day. We read many of our favorite Dr. Seuss stories Tuesday and throughout the week to celebrate. It was also pajama day but I forgot to get a group picture!
In Literacy Lab we read "Green Eggs and Ham". Then we played a memory matching game with sight words on eggs. Finally, we enjoyed our own version of Green Eggs and Ham which was green pudding and a vanilla wafer. The students loved it, it was very yummy!
We also watched an online version of Green Eggs and Ham. The students really enjoyed comparing the two different versions.
We read a book about weather this week, colored it to make it our own and then shared it with our preschool reading buddies. The students also shared their pieces of writing which we have been working on ocean number books. For example, the students are writing, "I see one...." followed by whichever ocean animal they would like to write about. Their next page would say, "I see two...".
One of our workstation areas has the students working on number scrolls and practicing writing their numbers to see how high they can write. They are allowed to use resources in the room to help them as well as focus on the patterns within the hundreds charts. Isaac was proud to share with me that he is now working on writing his numbers in the 300's. He has also motivated the other students to want to get as far as he has!
Thanks for stopping by. Check back next week to see what we are up to.
Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
