Visitor, Dinosaur Museum, Portfolios & More!

We had another fun and busy week in Kindergarten! We had nice weather and we were able to get out our tricycles and scooters for the playground. The students learned about the rules of our "road" such as which way to travel, wait their turn, stay inside the "road", and most of all be safe! The students really enjoyed using the tricycles and scooters and we hope the weather stays nice!
In honor of St. Patrick's Day, we made leprechaun hats. After the students made their hats, I put their faces in the middle and made them the leprechauns. They thought is was hilarious!
Mrs. Myers class has been learning about dinosaurs and created a dinosaur museum. They invited us to come tour their museum and look at their exhibits of fossils, skeletons, habitats, volcanoes, and maps. Below you can see the map group showing the students where in the world dinosaurs lived. They loved the beautiful map they created!
The group below is teaching the students about the different types of dinosaurs and how to identify them.
They also taught them about fossils and even created some of their own! They buried them in sand and the students had to become paleontologists and find them.
We observed the rocks and fossils very closely!
They made a giant dinosaur skeleton with labels and a giant dinosaur footprint. The students loved their huge skeleton and learning about the different parts of the body!
The habitat group taught the students what the dinosaurs needed to survive and even created a habitat to show the students.
The volcano group created a huge volcano to teach the students about volcanoes. Then they demonstrated an experiment to show how volcanoes work and even let the students try it out as well.
The students really enjoyed the dinosaur museum and learning more about dinosaurs. A big thank you to Mrs. Myers class for letting us come and learn
Since we finished reading our book: Mr. Popper's Penguins, we were able to watch the movie and compare. They were actually pretty similar and the students really enjoyed it.
We read a book about animals that live in the cold to practice our sight words. After we read our book, we colored it.
In order to get ready for our conferences this week, the students practiced sharing their portfolios with their preschool reading buddies. They can't wait to share their portfolios with you all at conferences!
One of my former students who is on spring break at Harold Schnell came to visit our class. She read a book to the students and shared with them more about what first grade is like!
Here is a picture of Layton practicing making his sight words in sand. He wanted me to share this picture on the blog!
Thanks for checking in this week. Have a great week! I will see you all at conferences this week!
