I Wonder Stations, Name Practice, & More!

Even though it was a short week, we were very busy in our classroom! We continued learning about 4 more of our friends by having them share their treasure blocks, read more stories, worked hard in literacy lab, discussed our classroom rules, discussed the letter C and created our letter card, had a birthday treat, and practiced recognizing and writing our names! Take a look below for pictures!

Here are some of the stories we read this week.
This week we learned about Brianna, Kendra, Aicha, and Dakota.
In literacy lab this week, we read Pete the cat and colored a page focusing on color words.
We also read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and worked on making a name caterpillar.
As a class, we created a list of the rules that we should follow in our classroom. Next week we will be making this into a contract and all the students will "sign" our contract as well as myself!
We have been working on silent reading when we are transitioning from one activity to another. The students have been doing great with focusing on their book and finding a quiet spot to look at it on their own. This group really enjoys books and reading!
We talked about the letter C and made a list of things that begin with that sound. I will post a picture of the letter card next week since I forgot to get a picture.
Parker's birthday was on our QPT day Wednesday so he brought a snack in on Tuesday for his friends to enjoy. In the picture, it doesn't look like Parker is very happy about us singing Happy Birthday to him but he was!
This week we also began our "I Wonder" stations. These allow the students to make a choice and explore various areas in the classroom. Below you can see Tommy & Alena working in our "Small Hands" area. This area helps the students work those small muscles in their fingers and hands. They worked on lacing cards, sorting, and weaving.
Aicha & Gabriel are working in our "Look Closer" area. This area encourages students to look closer at different materials using magnifying glasses, microscopes, & even just their eyes!
Kendra & Elisa were working in our Home Living area. This area encourages creativity, parallel play, collaboration, problem solving & socialization skills.
Below you can see Kurron, Eli & Robert working in our science area. Here they can explore various items such as our magnets, items from nature, sensory bottles, etc.
Alexander & Bentley are working in our library area. This area encourages reading and print concepts, socialization skills, listening, and more!
Lauranna & Mila were working in our writing area. This area allows the students to work on creativity, writing, problem solving, collaboration, etc.
Anes, Jacob & Brooklyn are working in the engineering/ building area. This area build creativity, fine & gross motor skills, problem solving, collaboration, and more!
Taetym, Adasen & Parker are working in the art area. This area allows students to be creative, problem solve, collaborate with one another, etc.
We worked on a ripped paper activity. First, I wrote all of the students names on a piece of paper with a sharpie marker. Then the students needed to choose the color of construction paper that they wanted to use and rip it into little pieces. Next, they used liquid glue to glue the tiny pieces on their paper. This took lots of hard work in order to follow directions, make the paper follow the marker lines, and make it look nice! They turned out great, take a look below at some of the finished products! We will be putting them up on our bulletin board in the hallway in order to share our hard work with other classes.
Thanks for checking on our hard work this week. Check back again next week to see what we are up to next. Have a great week!
