Countdown N-R, Careers on Wheels, & More!

Here in Kindergarten, we had another fun and busy week! We completed the letters N-R for our End of the Year Alphabet Countdown, shared with our Preschool Reading Buddies, participated in Careers on Wheels, took our i-Ready diagnostic tests, and more!
Take a look below for more details on our exciting week!

For our End of the Year Alphabet Countdown, we started the week with "New Name Day" for the letter N. The students got to pick their name and wore name tags for the day. The students all enjoyed this day!
Some students picked names inspired by super heroes.
Others picked names from characters they know.
Some picked their name from singers.
 Others made a name up!
Some were also inspired by family members!
Tuesday was "wear Orange" for the letter O.
On Wednesday we had a "popcorn party" to celebrate the letter P.
On Thursday, we made a "memory quilt" with the students favorite memories from the school year.
Jade liked "Letting go of the butterflies."
Merylin enjoyed the "recycling center".
Kayla liked "the time that we were doing the play (Spring Sing)".
Friday was letter R day and to celebrate, we "read outside" on the playground. We went out first thing in the morning and were able to beat the rain! The students enjoyed reading books on the playground!
On Friday, we shared our Alphabet Memories book with our Preschool Reading Buddies. It was their last day of preschool so we also made cards for them to thank them for listening to us this year and to tell them how much we will miss them!
Thursday was the rain make up day for our Careers on Wheels day. Students got to visit a police car, Batmobile & Batcycle from Carl's Body Shop, limousine, firetruck, and a sheriff's car. The students really enjoyed our Careers on Wheels event and learned so much about the various careers.
Check them out below!
We visited a police car and learned about what a police officer does and how they help keep us safe!
We also got to see a Batmobile and Batcycle that Carl's Body Shop built. The students got to look inside the vehicles and even under the hood of the Batmobile.
We learned how they built the car and why it is so special!
We learned about a limousine driver and they got to look inside the cool vehicle.
They couldn't believe that 9 people could fit inside of it!
Then we learned about firefighters and how they help keep us safe. They showed us everything they carry on their trucks including 3 ladders, 3 industrial sized saws that can cut through metal, at least 5 hoses, 750 gallons of water, and more!
Lastly, the students talked to a sheriff and learned how his job was different from the police officers. He showed us his gear that he wears to keep himself safe and he chose some friends to show them off! He even let the kids get into the car and see what it looked like inside.
On Monday, the students began taking the reading i-Ready diagnostic test. I printed out and sent home everyone's scores from the reading diagnostic. Let me know if you have any questions.
Once everyone finished, they began the math diagnostic. The students will be finishing their math diagnostic test on Monday and I will send home their scores once they do.
The students also did a find a friend scavenger hunt where they looked for friends who liked certain things and wrote their name in each box.
Of course we enjoyed playing outside and enjoying bubbles!
Our RSVP for our Poetry Cafe, End of the Year Awards & End of the Year Video went home last week. I want to make sure I have enough chairs and snacks so if you haven't already returned your paper, please do so as soon as you can!
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a great week and I hope to see you all Friday for our Poetry Cafe!
