Sensory Path

Last weekend our Outdoor Learning Committee worked together to build a sensory path on our playground for our students. It turned out so beautiful and the students LOVED it! Take a look below for the process and see the final product!

First we began by building a frame.
Then we started building the squares and filling them with gravel.
Next we worked on making each square. We attached different materials to plywood squares such as corrugated pipes, rope, different length astroturf, rubber mat, wood tile, rubber outdoor tiles. After attaching the materials to the plywood squares, we filled holes with gravel and fit the squares in.
We also filled some materials right into the squares such as lava rocks, river rocks. tree cookies, mulch, and brick pavers. Here are pictures of the finished product. It turned out so beautifully!
Miss S & I tested it out when it was all done!
The kids really enjoyed getting to take their shoes off and explore the various textures on our sensory path!
Thanks to all of our Outdoor Learning Team who worked so hard and our PTO for sponsoring this wonderful project!
