Friendship Feast Decorations, Field Trip & More!

We had another fun and busy week in Kindergarten! We earned a new trophy, worked on our Journeys and worked hard in Literacy Lab. We also began making our decorations for our friendship feast including place mats, welcome banner, table runners, and pine cone turkeys. We will finish up our decorations this week! The students earned a popcorn party as well as an ice cream party so we had those this week as well. We learned 2 new letter sounds as well as a new color word and we shared them with our Preschool reading buddies. We also went on our field trip and had an assembly. Take a look below to see more details about our awesome week!

Mrs. Thompson's class came to deliver the restroom trophy to our class that we won for last week. We displayed it outside our classroom and the students were so proud!
Our focus wall for the week for Journey's.
In our Reader's Notebook we worked on sight words, letter A & M sounds, and sensory words.
In Literacy Lab, students worked hard on various literacy skills. Here students were finding sight words in books and practiced writing them.
Students worked with me or Miss Reed to read basic guided reading books and answer comprehension questions about them.
They practiced finding and marking the letter G.
Reading letter books with Mrs. Ball.
We worked on decorating their placemats for our Friendship Feast. Students wrote about and drew a picture about what they were thankful for. They chose a color paper to glue their place mat on and then I laminated them. They will be at our feast and then students will be able to take them home!
Here are just a few examples. You will be able to see the rest at our feast on Tuesday!
We also worked on making a welcome banner for our feast. First students decorated the letters "Friendship Feast".
Miss Riggs & Mrs. Myers friends helped us too!
Miss Reed helped the students paint their hand so they could put their handprint on our welcome banner.
Miss Riggs & Mrs. Myers students added theirs as well and our banner turned out so wonderful!
Miss Reed helped students create a pine cone turkey and they glued on feathers and eyes.
Here are a few examples. Look for the rest at the feast!
Students also worked in groups to make table runners. The other classes each made 4 as well. Each table will have one on it for decoration.
On Monday, we had the popcorn party that the students earned. It was also Savannah's birthday so she passed out a birthday snack as well!
Tuesday, Mrs. Boxley brought in a sundae bar for the students since they earned an ice cream party. The students loved it, it was so yummy!
We learned the letter sounds for A & V, students drew pictures and I made them into cards for our alphabet wall.
Students worked hard to create our white mosaic.
They earned books for A, V and white and they shared them with their preschool reading buddies.
During workstations, students worked with me on the color purple and the sight word I.
They also worked hard on their iReady lessons!
On Friday we went on our field trip to the Learning Tree Farm.
We got to see the chickens and it looked like there was one laying an egg!
The students even got to hold the chickens!
Ellie was holding the Rooster!
Olivia was feeling the rooster's comb.
One of the chickens laid an egg while we were out there!
Then we walked on the trails.
We split into groups so I tried to get pictures of the other group that wasn't with me.
The students got to swing on their tire swing.
We saw lots of cool things like a mushroom on a tree.
And a raccoon's home (the top hole in the tree).
The observation tower was a great place to look and listen to the things around us.
Then they went through an obstacle course.
And got to pick out a pumpkin.
Here is a group picture of the students and parents who were with my group.
The students enjoyed petting this cat who was napping (and purring) in a basket.
 Eating lunch
Taking a tour of the old fashion house and learning about its history.
 Seeing the cows.
 And the gardens.
Then the horses & donkeys.
 The sheep
 And the goats.
We never got a whole group picture with our class and Miss S's class! We were so cold and ready to get in the warm weather!

Friday when we returned from our field trip we had an assembly about our school's tootles & trophies.
We also met who was chosen for the October asset builder of the month.
After the first week of our 2 week iReady goal, the students have passed 47 lessons.
If they can meet their goal next week, they will earn extra recess time!
Important papers sent home this week:
Home letter about our Journeys work.
Box Tops paper
 Sight Words paper to practice
Information about our Holiday Vendor Fair
Thanks for checking in. Come back next week to see what we are up to next!

Have a great week and I hope to see you at our Friendship Feast on Tuesday evening!
