100th Day of School & More!

We had a jam packed week full of fun activities and lots of learning! Take a look below for more details on our exciting week!

Our class won the P.E. trophy this week. Mrs. Myers class had it last week so they came to deliver it to us and the students were so excited!
They were excited to play outside while it was nice and before the cold front came in!
Our Journey's Focus Wall for the week.
Our home letter to describe what we are working on this week as well as a sight word list. We are starting to learn 6 sight words a week so I will send a list home that you can practice at home too. Some parents have told me that they like to hang them on their fridge and just quickly go through them each day!
We have also been working hard in our Reader's Notebooks this week as well.
In Literacy Lab, students worked with me on reading basic guided reading books and answering comprehension questions about the stories.
We also worked on a picture sort to practice beginning letter sounds and build vocabulary.
Students also worked hard on passing their iReady lessons.
They worked with Mrs. Coberly on letter identification, letter sounds, and practicing sight words.
Since last Sunday was Groundhog's Day, on Monday we watched the report on whether he saw his shadow or not. He didn't see his shadow which means spring will be here "early".
We wrote about what we saw with the groundhog.
We also worked on a February sight word book.
We had a couple new workstations this week.
The students surveyed their peers on what they would want 100 of and recorded it on a graph.
They also sorted shapes and colored pictures of things that begin with the letter Ii.
They also worked on their iReady lessons during this time as well.
Students also worked hard to put numbers back in numerical order.
All throughout the week, students shared their 100 item collections with the class. They gave their clues and had their peers guess what they thought their items were. They really enjoyed this activity!
Mrs. Boxley came and helped the rest of the students finish their 100 day fruit loop necklaces.
They got to wear them on the 100th Day of school!
We also worked on finished our 100 Day writing book. They had so much fun completing this book and I hope you enjoyed reading their responses, they had some creative ones!
Here are a few examples!
The students earned a Show and Tell this week, so we had it on Thursday.
They enjoyed sharing their favorite thing with the class!
Friday was our 100th Day of School and we had so much fun! We enjoyed dressing up like 100 year olds. Miss Dupont was subbing for Mrs. Oda so the kids were excited to see her too!
Take a look below at our fun day!
We also read a book about the 100th Day of school. I also sent home a 100 Day snack for the kids to enjoy with their families as they told them about our fun day.
For Fun Friday in Literacy Lab, students played a game called 100 Hungry Ants where they practiced counting by 10's.
We also did a rotation with Miss Riggs, Mrs. Myers & Ms. Hoppel's classes of various 100 day activities. In our class, students watched a video of people in order from 1-100 and noticed what happened to them as they get older (wrinkles, glasses, grey hair, etc.). Then they made their own face and what they thought they were going to look like when they were 100 years old. They used cotton balls to make their hair, mustache, or beard. They turned out so cute!
Then students went to Miss Riggs class and made pictures using the numbers in 100.
In Mrs. Myers class, students used 100 items to build with.
Finally in Mrs. Hoppel's class, students did 100 of various exercises.
Mrs. Coberly gave our class the Literacy Lab trophy this week for our hard work in her class.

I gave the students a 2 week iReady goal of passing 130 lessons and this week they passed 100! We will see how many they pass this week as well.
They are working towards earning a hot chocolate party.
Sent home this week:
