Valentine's Day & More

We had a busy short week and had fun celebrating Valentine's Day! Take a look below for more details on our week!

Our Journey's Focus Wall for the week
Home Letter about Journey's for the week along with our sight words for the week for students to practice at home.
We have been working hard on sounding out words to read basic guided reading books and answering questions about what we read.
In order to get ready for Valentine's Day, we read lots of books such as fiction books and easy reader books. We worked on reviewing our color words so the students could color the easy reader books.

We also talked and wrote about what love means to us.
Mrs. Boxley's birthday was Thursday so we made birthday cards for her! The students came up with some phrases that they might want to write to her and I put them on the board for them to copy. She loved getting all of the cards!
Mrs. Boxley also worked with students to put their handprints on a Valentine's Day poem for their portfolios.
We also worked on writing sticker stories. I gave the students various valentine stickers which they created a picture from and then wrote a story about it.
We had fun celebrating Valentine's Day on Thursday! Students sorted candy hearts by color, practiced sight words, and matched upper and lowercase letters. We also did fun Valentine workstations.
Then students passed out their Valentines to each other, they were so excited!
Our friend Cameron was one of this week's school tootle winners.
We were so proud of him and he was so excited!
I gave the students a 2 week goal to pass 130 iReady lessons. They voted that they wanted to have a hot chocolate party if they passed it. Not only did they pass the goal, but they passed it by 50 lessons! So next week we will be having a hot chocolate party!
We will be doing another 2 week goal starting next week with another reward that they choose.
Our class also won the Literacy Lab trophy this week for the most 100% iReady lessons passed!
Sent home this week:
Year book order forms
Thanks for checking in. Stop back next week to see what we are up to next!
Have a great week!

Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
