February, Writing, & More!

We had a fun and busy week in Kindergarten! Take a look below at details on our week!

Our Journey's Focus Wall for the week.
Journey's Home Letter and sight words for the week.
In Literacy Lab, I continued to work with students on reading basic guided reading books and answering questions about what we read.
We also worked on how to figure out words with a silent E.
Students also worked very hard on their iReady lessons.
Mrs. Coberly worked with students on sounding words out.
For Fun Friday, Mrs. Coberly read the story Red Riding Hood to them.
Then they put the pictures in order to retell the story.
We also worked on a February literacy and math paper and a February reading comprehension paper.
We have been talking a lot about how students should be a stage 3 writer for quarter 3 and what that looks like. They have been working so hard on their writing!
For our 3rd quarter writing assessment, we read one of our Journey's books, "Sheep Take a Hike". Then students wrote about what their favorite part was.
We also worked in our Reader's Notebooks to practice our sight words and pictures that begin with the letter Dd sound.
We are so close to finishing our 101 Dalmatians book!
We will read the last chapter and watch the movie this week.
I gave the students a 2 week goal to pass 135 lessons on iReady and they ended up passing 199!
They voted and chose to have a popcorn party so we will be having one this week!
Important papers sent home this week:

Spring Picture day is Monday, March 2nd
March Homework & Reading Log
Pennies for Patients information.
It begins this week for 3 weeks and the class that collects the most money wins a pizza party!
Information on our ECC Carnival
Our class is doing a raffle basket for the ECC Carnival and our theme is Ohio State.
If you would like to donate an item for our basket, please send it to school by March 9th.
Thanks for checking in to see what were up to this week.
Check back next week to see what other fun things we are up to!

Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
