Caterpillars, Camouflage & More!

Our focus wall for the week.
We got our caterpillars and over the week, they got so much bigger! The students enjoyed watching them grow and molt (shed their skin). They can't wait for them to make their chrysalis hopefully next week!
We wrote about the caterpillars in our 'Butterfly Life Cycle' journal.
"They can hang a lot. They will turn into a chrysalis."
"There are 5 caterpillars.", "They are not big. They are small."
We have also continued to water our sprouts, watch them grow, and document what we are seeing in our plant journal!
"I have six sprouts.", "The plants are very tall!"
We did a fun activity with Miss Riggs class! Each class made butterflies and camouflaged them around their classroom. We went to Miss Riggs class and found their butterflies. Then they came to our classroom and found ours. The students had so much fun!
We continued to practice subtraction.
We reviewed our sight words as well as the letters & letters sounds that we have focused on for the last 4 weeks.
We continued to write about animals. Students imagined that they were the king of the jungle, like a lion, and made up a rule.
"No fighting allowed."
They also wrote about why they would want a pet monkey.
"They are cute."
Mrs. Phillip came to talk to the class about the importance of medication safety and how to safely take care of our bodies. We sorted things that are medicine and they would need to ask an adult for help with and things that help you feel better but are safe (like a blanket, water, orange juice, etc.)
We talked about different organs in the body and how they help us fight germs.
Mrs. Ball did an activity with the class to help us understand how to treat friends and things to do instead of tattling.
We worked very hard in Literacy Lab this week as well!
Students worked with me on guided reading, sight words and reading comprehension.
Students worked very hard on their iReady lessons!
They also worked hard on sight words and guided reading independently.
Students worked with Mrs. Ball on letters, letter sounds, color words, and sight words.
We love watching the construction of our new school!
Thanks for stopping by to see what fun things we have been working on.
Stop back next week to see what other fun things we are up to next!

Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
