Week of October 4th

We had another awesome week. Take a look below to find out more about what we learned this week.

Our class was excited to win the art trophy this week. These are given by the various specials teachers and school staff to a class each week who displays positive behaviors and good choices throughout the week,
This week was a review week. We reviewed all 5 of the color words that we have learned so far;
red, blue, yellow, green, and orange.
We also reviewed the letters;
Tt, Pp, Nn, Aa
We learned the sight words; who, what, where.
We learned about 4 more friends this week. We only have 1 more friend to learn about and then we will have learned about every student in our class!
We worked hard in Literacy Lab again as well. Students worked with me to review the letters T, P, N, A. We practiced writing the letters, sorting pictures that begin with their sounds, and sorting upper/lowercase letters.
Students worked with Ms. Stewart on a letter sort as well as practicing sight words.
Students also worked hard on their iReady lessons.
Mrs. Ball worked with students to practice reading letter books and letter sorts.
For math this week, we compared numbers by talking about greater than, less than, and equal to as well as ordinal numbers.
We also learned about the shape hexagon.
I gave students a goal as a class this week to pass 60 lessons on iReady. They voted that if they passed the goal, they wanted to earn extra recess.
With 73 lessons, they passed the goal so they were excited to have extra recess!
On Friday, we did another color mixing experiment with Ms. Riggs class. Students had a plate in a zip loc bag with yellow and red paint. They mixed the paint together to make....orange!
Before the experiment, students documented what they thought was going to happen. After the experiment, they documented what actually happened. These papers will go in the student't portfolios.
Some of the finished plates. We will be making them into jack-o-lanterns this week.
We talked about pumpkins, what the outside looks like, and we made guesses on how many seeds we thought were in our pumpkin. Next week we will be cutting it open to count!
Our friend Faith was chosen as one of the Tootle prize winners for the week, congratulations!
We still need people to help fill positions throughout the district. Here are the details:
Thanks for stopping by. Come back next week to see what fun things we are up to next!
