Alphabet Countdown S-W, Careers on Wheels, Poetry Cafe, Etc.

This year is almost over and we had a very busy last full week in our classroom! We went through letters S-W in our End of the Year Alphabet Countdown, had our Careers on Wheels event, Poetry Cafe/Awards/End of the Year Video Ceremony, watched 101 Dalmatians, listened to presentations from Mrs. Myers class, and completed our Teachtown lesson on Apologizing When You Make a Mistake. Take a look below for more details.

For our End of the Year Alphabet Countdown, we had a Summer Birthday Party on Monday for those students who have summer birthdays. Some students brought in snacks for our party & some passed out gifts to their friends.
For the letter T, we wrote thank you notes to the ECC staff who have helped us this year. Dakota wrote a thank you note to me that said, "Thank you for teaching us with our work and reading." Tommy wrote a thank you note to Mr. Doyle that said, "Thank you for making us big and strong. I like Mr. Doyle. I will eat healthy stuff."

Skyler wrote a thank you note to me that said, "Thank you for you tell us what to do and you let us play." Alena wrote to Mrs. Learner, "Thank you for teaching to not scribble. I love art." Alexander wrote to Mrs. Hall, "Thank you for helping us. Thank you for keeping us safe."

For letter U, we dressed in red, white or blue to celebrate the U.S.A.
For the letter V, we went on an imaginary vacation. The students thought hard about where they wanted to go and drew a picture on their letter V page.
Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures of our W day on Friday, which was for Wear Something Fancy. The students looked so great in their fancy clothes!

On Thursday, we had our Careers on Wheels day. The students went around to different vehicles to learn about career options for their future including a food truck owner/chef, bus driver, roaming boutique owner,  landscaper, police officer, fire fighter, and limo driver. The students really enjoyed learning about all of the awesome careers they can do!
In order to prepare for our Poetry Cafe on Friday, we practiced reading for Ms. Hoppel's class.

Friday was our Poetry Cafe, End of the Year Awards & Video.  Thank you again to everyone who came to be a part of our special day. The students did such a great job. I was proud of them and they were so proud of themselves!
Here are some pictures from our Poetry Cafe of the students reading their poems to the audience and also sharing their poetry books with their families.
Here are some pictures of the End of the Year Awards.
I am so thankful for my mom and grandma who came to help with the Poetry Cafe from setting up, helping throughout, and cleaning up.
Since we finished reading the book, we watched the movie 101 Dalmatians and compared the difference between the two. We noticed that they were very different!!
Mrs. Myers class also invited us to listen to their presentations on their study of pets. We listened to the information they learned about various pets (cat, dog, snake, bunny, bird, hamster, and turtle)
as well as looked at the habitats they created for each type of pet. They did a great job!
Our Teachtown lesson this week was, "Apologize When You Make a Mistake".
Thanks for stopping by. Check back again next week to see how we wrap up the year with our last week in Kindergarten!!

Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
