Countdown N-R, Slushies Reward, Scavenger Hunt & More!

This week was another great week here in our classroom! We had letters N-R in our Alphabet Countdown, worked on updating the student's data folders for 4th quarter testing, practiced our poems for our Preschool Reading Buddies, enjoyed our class reward of slushies that the students chose, focused on "Sometimes Friends Don't Want to Play" for our Teach Town lesson, and had our Spring Family Scavenger Hunt at Cox Arboretum.

For letter N in our Alphabet Countdown, we celebrated 'New Name Day'. Students enjoyed becoming superheroes or their favorite characters for the day, other students, their family or pets, or even making up their own names.
For letter O day, we celebrated by wearing Orange.
Even Mrs. Boxley & Mrs. Solich (my grandma) joined in on the fun!
To celebrate the letter P, we enjoyed some freshly popped popcorn.
On Thursday, we made a Memory Quilt for letter Q day. The students drew their favorite memories from the school year then I displayed our memory quilt on the hallway bulletin board.
Friday, we enjoyed the nice weather by Reading Outside for our letter R day.
I forgot to get a picture of one of the student's letter 'R' pages.
This week Mrs. Rawlins came to help out in the classroom while I worked with the students on updating their data folders and assessing for 4th quarter.
Friday was the last day of school for our Preschool Reading Buddies in Mrs. Vogt's class. The students wanted to practice reading their poems for our reading buddies in order to practice for our Poetry Cafe next week! They did an awesome job! We also sang some songs and danced with them.
As our next class reward, the students voted and chose to have slushies. I bought them over the weekend and we enjoyed them on Tuesday, a nice hot day! The students really enjoyed them and so did Mrs. Boxley & Mrs. Solich! They were very tasty!
Our Teach Town lesson for the week was "Sometimes Friends Don't Want to Play". We discussed how sometimes people want to play by themselves or how they might not want to play the same things as us but that doesn't mean they aren't our friends. This was a very important lesson!
On Saturday we had our Spring Family Scavenger Hunt at Cox Arboretum. The weather scared a lot of people away but we ended up having great weather and had a fun time!
We got to explore the butterfly house and these new butterfly statues that had cool kaleidoscope lenses in the eyes!

Thanks for stopping by to see what we have been up to this week! Check back again next week to see what fun and exciting things will be happening in our classroom. I hope to see you all at the Poetry Cafe on Friday!

Have a great week!
Mrs. Brittany Garrabrant
